Personally, I am unable to get it due to a neurological condition, but I think everyone who is able should get it. You protect yourself, but also people like me who can't be vaccinated.
I swear we have this discussion every.single.week.

MY BLOG -- About DD, TTC and everything in between!
I usually don't get a flu shot, but am very seriously condiering it now that we are starting to TTC. I'd rather feel the ill effects of it now rather than when I could possible be feeling crappy from early pregnancy. It'll also give me some time to produce an immunity.

I'm getting mine on Monday. Doctors strongly recommend that you get one while pregnant, and in my mind, even better to do it while TTC instead of waiting, in case you're one of the rare ones to have a reaction.
The vaccine isn't perfect, but it strongly reduces your chances of getting the flu, or if you get it, it won't be as severe. You really do not want to get sick while you're pregnant- it increases the risk of miscarriage and you'll be miserable because you can't really take too much except plain tylenol.
I do not get the flu shot. Ive gotten it once.. three days later I came down with strep throat.. which I hadnt gotten since I was 11 years old.. Im not saying the flu shot gave me strep throat, but I think it messed with my immune system so that I caught it. Also, I have a good friend who is a Pharmacist and they get huge commissions off the shot every year, personally I think that its a cash cow for doctors and pharmacys.. thats just my opinion though to each his own ..
I'm sort of going back and forth about it, but probably not. I never do normally, and actually didn't get it when I was pregnant with DD (my Dr never pushed it, and I didn't either). I'm a SAHM and not around many people, nor is DD in school yet so I don't think I'm at any more risk to get it than usual.
I haven't gotten it on a regular basis over the last few years but will be getting it next month when I go for my physical. The doctor recommended it at my pre-conception consult.

Clomid #6 BFP!!! Due 12/24/13
I kept meaning to get it while we were TTA, but forgot, so I had decided in the middle of last cycle that if I wasn't pregnant, I would get it close to CD1. If I was pregnant, I was going to wait and ask my Dr when she thought I should get it (like wait until end of first tri or whatever). Either way, I was definitely getting a flu shot, for myself and for DS. CD1 was Sunday, so I got my flu shot yesterday.

Yeah...I'm not temping this cycle, but it did happen to my chart from last October. That tdap gave me a really bad fever when I got the booster in 2009...got a temp around 102...

I never get it but if my doctor suggests it then I will. I asked her if I should when I was pregnant with DD and she said no.
What the dickens?? Why???
Get your flu shot. For yourself, your baby, and everyone around you. And also, it doesn't matter if it's the preservative free one or the shot. CDC recommends either even for pregnant women.
I got it last weekend. No ill effects at all aside from an arm that was sore for a few hours. I waited until I was 3DPO incase it messed with my temps (just wanted FF to recognize O), but it didn't give me a spike at all. I've been getting it the past few years since I work with kids and go to college (and ride super crowded, dirty subway trains), but if I didn't take public transit and didn't work with kids, I wouldn't generally get it. However, every piece of research I have found STRONGLY encourages the shot for pregnant women. That's fine and dandy if you never get it otherwise (since adult women aren't a particular risk factor for severe complications), but the pregnancy part changes things. Even a slight fever while pregnant could cause some things to go wrong, particularly early in development. I have some minor teeth issues related to a fever my mom caught while pregnant with me. Obviously, everyone is free to make their own decisions and if you intelligently decide that for yourself it is not something you wish to have that's completely ok, I'm just a little shocked at the "never got one before so I don't see why I should now" argument. Though I supposed TTC =/= being pregnant so hopefully some people might re-look at the pros and cons once they reach that stage.

Absolutely.
I get it because I believe in herd immunization and it only works if people vaccinate themselves and their kids.
I'm just going to sit back now with cup 2 of coffee and watch this thread. DD thinks her blocks are iPhones. She's got serious business in the works.
