  i labeled her clothes at first bc our handbook says to. but i quit and they have never asked me about it. That was a pain! I do label things like hats and coats if I don't want to lose them, and we labeled cups and bottles when we sent them (they definitely required that so they didnt give someone else my breastmilk)

  Thanks for the advice! It's not like it's going to hurt anything to label it right? Especially, like pp said, the expesnsive things like her winter coat. That would definitely suck if some other kid ended taking that home and leaving Z with nothing. I would also hope that parents wouldn`t keep something that wasn`t their kids.

  I get name labels from namebubbles.com and there are a ton of labels that come with the order so I put his name on everything.  I learned very early on that if his name isn't on it, it doesn't make it home.  We lost a hat last winter and ever since then I started labeling.

  Ad a Preschool teacher I can say toddler age is the most important age TO label. Especially at the beginning of each season when kids are wearing new coats and if your child has multiple costs. Imagine taking 15 kids outside and once you come in they all begin to take off their coats and throw them on the floor. Now you have to figure out which coat belongs to each child. Unfortunately most toddlers won't "claim" their coat like older children. Also in the toddler room you get multiple children with the same coat, so even though you know what one child's coat looks like you just guess who gets each one.
  As for clothes and smaller items not as big of a deal but they can get pulled out of cubbies by other children and teachers don't know which they came out of.

  I've never labeled anything for daycare except her bottles.  Stella has her own cubby and we hang her jackets/sweatshirts in there.  I really don't see a need for it, unless they daycare has asked you to, or if you are worried some of her items might disappear.

  I would label.  I taught preschool and my kids had their own cubbies but that didn't stop them from pulling clothes out of theirs (and others).  Often we'd end up with extra hats, mittens, coats, etc.  It was difficult to remember who's was who's.  My rule was if you want it to return home to label it and that's what I do with DDs stuff.

  I don't label all of his clothes.  I have a box in his cubby with his name on it, that I keep extra clothes in.  I just use a sharpie to put his name on some of the things in there - sunblock, tylenol, etc.

  I do put labels on hats and coats though.  I'll write our name in his mittens - I imagine it'll be hard to label those!

  Oh, and I also label his lunch box, containers I pack his food in, etc.
