cranky baby

DS is 5.5 wks old and this past week he has been so fussy and the only thing that calms him down his holding him and bopping around. this is fine for a little while but i cannot hold him all day! its wearing me out! he is fed, has a clean diaper and so far he hates his swing, tolerates the bouncy seat for about 5 mins, ive tried letting him cry but he cries so hard i swear he forgets to breathe...he will fall asleep on me but the 2nd i put him down in his pack n play or crib he wakes right up and starts screaming...

is anyone else going thru the same thing? and have you found anything that helps.

?

Re: cranky baby

  • I went through this too.  Try a sling.

  • I've found that when DS falls asleep and I need to put him down I put him on his tummy then once he is completely knocked out I move him to his side or back and he stays asleep while I can get things done

  • we found either a sling or baby carrier worked at least he would go to sleep and you had your hands free to do a few things.

  • This happened to me too, but it was @ 4 weeks.  I just went w/ it for a day or two and she got over it.  I did start using my carrier, but only had to do that a few times.  GL!  This, like all other phases, shall pass.
  • My guy is going through the same thing.  He's also eating a lot.  I assume it's the 6 wk growth spurt.

I wouldn't let your dc cry.... he just needs to be held during these times.  My sling is a lifesaver.  That way he gets the comfort he needs and I can get some things done.

  • thanks for the tips ladies! i finally got him to sleep, put him down, he napped for 15 mins but is starting to stur again... ugg!! looks like we might be taking a car ride.
