Loving the Infantino Mei Tei!

Hello AP Mamas,

I was a moby user when my daughter was smaller, but with an upcoming international flight & journey with the babes, I wanted something sturdier for my 20+ lb girl. I didn't want to spend a lot on another carrier she might not even like, so got the Infantino Mei Tei and just wanted to share how much I'm loving it! It's so comfortable for me, my daughter seems to like it more than she ever liked the moby, and the little hood really helps her fall asleep - it fact it was the only way to get her to sleep on the plane.

I think Infantino is really turning its brand around - their Mei Tei, ergonomic carriers, and new baby-food making system seem like a much more well researched path.

Hope that helps!

  • Glad you are enjoying it!!  I agree that Infantino is making a big effort to make good carriers (and I was NOT a fan a few years ago!).  The latest version of their mei tai is definitely a good choice for someone looking for a budget friendly carrier.  And I was super happy to see them as attendees (or at least two folks from the company) at the International Babywearing Conference this summer - I think they do want to get it right.

  • Be careful with it as the testers on TBW forums were able to tear out the straps with by hand. It was shown not to be triple stitched properly. Personally I wouldn't trust it to support my child.
  • I have the mei tai thanks to my bff gifting it to me. It's awesome. Being a plus size mom, big chested and still being comfortable is a plus.

I think I had seen you post this earlier and was a little nervous about my purchase, but now that I have it and am using it regularly, I can't imagine how some one would tear it apart with their bear hands. It's a new product, so if it really is poorly made and tears easily, I'm sure you'll be hearing about it on this board soon enough. I promise to come back if mine doesn't hold up.

Love their Mei tei (aside from the ugly pattern but I can live with that).  OP did you say  you'd used their Ergo too?  I'm considering this one but would love some more reviews.

I haven't used their ergonomic carriers, but was just commenting that I was happy to see them.

I had gotten one of the original crotch-dangling Infantino carriers at a consignment sale while I was pregnant - we tried it 3 times before giving it away. My daughter hated it, so I'm glad to see the company has moved onto better designs.

  • My friend gave me this carrier after her two boys outgrew it. It is awesome.  I also think it's great that it's so reasonably priced.  My friend and her DH don't have a lot of money and for them, this was the only carrier they could afford.  Carriers are ridiculously expensive in my opinion.

I bet even a Boba or an Ergo could get torn apart by someone with bear hands Stick out tongue

    Tehehe, sorry OP...couldn't resist.

Glad you are enjoying your carrier, and glad that Infantino is making such strides to make better products Smile

  • I like mine and tired to "pull it apart"  I think it is made well enough for what I need it for.

  • I used and liked the Wrap and Tie, and then I lent it to a friend that also couldn't afford a "good" carrier (seriously, they're on welfare). She's still using it with her 1 year old. It was actually nice that it was inexpensive enough that I could lend it and not worry about getting it back.
