I know "lei" can sometimes be pronounced "lee" but it can also be pronounced "lay" as in, I wore a Hawaiian lei on my honeymoon.
This- The lei can be pronounced much the same way freight, eight, or weight would be...which doesn't necessarily mean it would sound like lee.
I pronounce it lay-luh
This was my thought process...we want it to be pronounced Layla, but my husband really likes this spelling so I prefer to keep it spelled like this, and I know this is the traditional spelling of Layla, which is another reason we picked it. But people keep calling her Lee-la so far and I am worried it is going to a problem
Re: How would you pronounce...
I'd look at it and wonder if it was Lee-la or Lay-la, but I'd ultimately choose saying it like Lay-la.

I would say Lay-la.
