I am going back to work tomorrow and my 2 month old will be going to daycare. My husband will be doing the drop off and pick up because it's near his work. I'm just wondering what your early morning routine's look like and what time your LO goes to bed at night.
We have been putting Sammy down after his last bottle - usually around 9 or 10. We are forumula feeding. He has been sleeping until anywhere from 4:30am to 6am. I need to leave my house by 7:30 at the latest. I'm just not sure what time I should get up in the morning...and do I get in the shower first or feed him first? I am probably overthinking this, but I like to know how my morning is going to go and I always like a plan!
So what does your morning routine look like and what time are you putting your little one to bed? TIA!
Re: working moms please come in!
DD goes down around 8:30/9 and wakes up around 3 to eat.. then is asleep until about 7. I have to leave at 8:10 and I have a toddler to get ready too..
So-- DH takes his shower at 6:30- I get DD1 her milk/ breakfast.
While I am in the shower at 7, DH gets DD1 dressed.
DH leaves at 7:30 and DD2 is normally waking up. I change her clothes/diaper feed her, burp her and do DD1's hair. I make sure that their bags for school/daycare are all set. I am done all of this by 8. With my last 10 minutes my hair is dried and I curl up the ends. I normally make lunch the night before.. and breakfast is normally toast that I eat on the way to work.
I try and do as much as possible the night before (pack lunch, clean bottles, pack up car, sitter bag for LO, etc. I even try and shower at night if I can).
LO has been an amazing sleeper. He usually goes down between 8 and 8:30 and will sleep until 7:15 most days, sometimes he will wake up at 5:30 because he is hungry like he did today, and today was DH's turn to get up with him.
DH gets up and showers and then I get up and shower. DH prepares LOs bottle and then once I am out of the shower I will feed DS and then get him changed and dressed for the day. This is about 7:45 or so.
Then I will finish getting ready (since LO spits up so much I usually wait until after he is ready to get dressed for the day). I sit him in his bouncer while I do this and he has fun watching mommy get ready.
I then pack up the car and make sure he has everything he needs for the sitter, which thankfully for me is right across the street (literally). I usually dop him off at about 8:30.
I give her a rundown of LO's morning schedule and how the previous night went and then say goodbye and head to work. I also luckily don't have to be at work until 9.
I have found that the more you can do the night before the easier the mornings tend to go (and the more time I have with DS before I have to drop him off).
I put my LO in his pjs and give him a bottle at 9pm. He's usually asleep and in bed anywhere between 9;30 and 10pm. He usually wakes up for his middle of the night feeding anywhere between 3 and 4am so he goes back to bed and then it's a crap shoot as to what time he wakes up. Some mornings he wakes up at 6 and other mornings he sleeps until it's time to get him up and in the car to daycare.
Thankfully my LO is pretty calm and cool in the mornings. On a typical morning, he wakes up on his own and I bring him into the living room and put him in his pack n play while I get ready. He just lays there and talks to himself and hangs out while I pump and get ready for work. I move fast, I don't take a shower (I do that at night to cut down on morning stuff to do). I get myself ready and get his stuff packed up, then I change his diaper and dress him and we go. I don't feed him at home, I let her feed him as soon as he gets to daycare. That saves a lot of time. Also, all I have to take to daycare is his milk, I've already supplied her with two bottles, a pack of diapers, and an extra set of clothes, so there's no diaper bag that I need to pack everyday. I'm usually up by 6 or 6:15 and we're out the door by about 7:15 at the latest and most of that time, he's just chilling and playing in his PnP or swing.
It took us a week to get to that point though. In the beginning, I was having my husband get up and help out but once we realized the baby is pretty chill and happy in the mornings and can hold off on eating until he gets to daycare, that just became the easiest thing to do.
I give myself an extra 45mins to wake/feed/burp/diaper/clothe the baby. Been working for us.
(I get fully ready first then go wake her up - she goes down at 9pm or so, feeds once in the night then sleeps until around 7am)
Btw - We only formula feed.
