still breastfeeding...

Hi ladies, well im still breastfeeding.. which im super happy about, my son still has no teeth so i plan to breastfeed till he gets some... but he still wakes up tones during the night to eat... he doesnt eat much during the day, but eats alot during the night... i try to fill him up before bed with baby food but he doesnt really like baby food at all! idk what todo..

    I have no real advice as I don't know how your your LO is but both my DDs slept poorly until some magic 9mo date when they started STTN, maybe encouraging nursing more frequently during the day and seeing if you DH can soothe back to sleep without nursing at least to space the night nursing  out.  But, he may be hungry if this is his feeding times so be sure to get day nursings in there.  As to the tooth thing, DD2 doesn't have a tooth yet but I nursed DD1 until she was 2 and teeth were not a problem -- nursing manners apply to all babies.

    Sounds like he thinks eating is a night time thing. Keep trying to nurse him frequently during day and after awhile he may take to the new schedule. I wanted my LO to nurse at 730 am before I left for work and after trying for two weeks now he always wants to nurse at 730 on the dot.
    My baby has two teeth but that's not stopping us. In the beginning I had to teach him not to bite but after a couple of days he doesn't really do it anymore. If he bit I just said no biting and gave him a teether. I would wait a few minutes before letting him nurse again. He got the idea that if he bites he won't get to nurse.

    Try feeding finger foods if he doesn't like purees. Also, my breastfed son is JUST now starting to sleep through the night at 10 months. A sidenote- he has 6 teeth and has yet to bite me... Them having teeth doesn't mean they can't still nurse :)

    Try telling him he can sleep through the night. I did this w/my LO she slept that night and has STTN every night since (a little shy of 6 months old). This is advice from Bringing up Bebe which I very much recommend.  Also, I would try getting up w/LO and rocking him, singing to him,  or walking around, see if that gets him back to sleep and only if that is not successful offer the breast.

    My son hated baby food...I tried everything over the course of a mo (from 6-7 mo).  I tried hot, warm, room temp and cold...I tried foods straight and mixed together...I tried feeding before nursing and after and right in between.  NOTHING WORKED.  He hated, hated, hated purees.  I went to table food (baby led weaning) and it was a total 180...this little boy LOVES to eat and he is now waking once a night to eat (and usually that is around 5am...he'll sleep 6:30pm - 5am, nurse, and sleep from 5:20-6:30/7am).  GL!
