What do you think of the name London for a girl? It's a guilty pleasure name of mine... I usually like more classic names, but I keep circling back... Can picture a classy, chic, confident girl with this name. But at the same time, seems like it could come off as cheesy or white trash. Help.

I'm not a fan. To me it does seem kind of cheesy and made up and, like the previous poster suggested, it kind of reminds me of Paris Hilton's name...
I dislike London as a name for a little girl. I can picture both scenarios as well, but cheesy white trash is stronger.

This. That's why I'm not into place names. What if your kid decides to visit or live in the place he or she is named after? To me these sort of names sound vaguely aspirational, like you want to be hip so you name your kid after someplace cool-sounding you've never actually been to.
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
I agree with this. I feel like the majority of people who name their daughter London have probably never been there.

I love it. Then again, it's my 2nd DD's name, so I'm biased.

We definitely get more positive feedback when people hear her name than we do negative, not that it matters to me either way.
Thanks ladies! Just needed a reality check I guess, LOL
Looks like we're going with Calla...
Maybe I will get a puppy named London one day
Ooooo I LOVE Calla! Much better than London.
the first post in response was "sounds stripperish to me"
