3yr old Having tonsillectomy on Wednesday what to bring?

DS is having his tonsils and adinoids out this wednesday. He has a special blanket he sleeps with at night and will be bringing that with us to the hospital. Any other suggestions or recovery tips you might have would be awesome.

    The blanket and ask for happy juice for before the surgery. Have sugar free Popsicle at home. We messed with DS1 up and they were not sugar free.  He was so hyper.  He had his adenoids and hernia repaired.  DS2 had tubes put back in and hernia repaired last week.  He already has his adenoids out.  Good luck

    We did this at 2. I was very thankful for the baby legs I brought at they let him wear them under the hospital gown so I didn't worry about him being cold, a computer and DVD's (or itunes or whatever) with his favorite movies (They have a kids channel at the hospital but having his favorite show ready to go was helpful), sippy cups he likes (liquid intake is a BIG issue afterwards so ANYTHING that he will drink is really good), our DS liked pacifiers, socks for chilly hospital rooms for you and your LO. You may want to bring PJ's for your LO that do NOT go over their head (I am assuming you will spend one night at the hospital) as well as a 2 piece PJ set. 

    Also, some unsolicited advice: Talk to the DR and your DH about possible reactions to the medication after the surgery. My DS went into a bit of a panic and started freaking out after the surgery as he work up. My DH's reaction was to hold him tight and force him to be still so he didn't pull the IV or hurt his surgery. My reaction was to give him a minute to freak out and come down off the anesthesia. Needless to say, it was  bad time to have a argument about our philosophies on parenting. Just have plan about how to approach your LO's possible reactions to the anesthesia.
