I delivered there 3 weeks ago because that's where my doctor delivers. I took all of the free birthing and prenatal classes the hospital offers which were very helpful. The rooms are nice. The first nurse, Kerry sp that admitted me to be induced was great. She's the one that also teaches one of the prepared birthing series. Next nurse, Allie, was great. Very relaxed and easy to talk to. I actually cried when it was her shift change. Next nurse in, Sue, was a little less experienced but so supportive. Was very helpful in the OR when I had to end of having a csection. Every nurse after that was crap. Rarely checked on me, had to remind them it was time for my mess. They also didn't show me how to a diaper, take care of circumcision, or bathe my son. They have you watch a dvd. Thankfully my DH has kids and knew what he was doing. Also, the cafeteria has good choices and quick.
Also.... tell the nurses you want to be informed of visitors. They let my boss husband walk right in. I could have been naked or nursing, or anything. After that, I told them to ask before letting anyone in my room. Well they did, when the person was standing right behind them at the door. Not impressed with security at all.
Also not impressed with security. Just make sure you let front desk know to ask permission for visitors. They didn't ask me, let my boss her husband walk right in. I could have been nursing or naked or anything. Or even just sleeping.
Didn't mean to double post about security, didn't think 1st post went through. But while I'm at it, wanted to mention the lactation department there is phenomenal.... both while you're there, the home visit, and beyond.
Yes! I loved it. They were great. I had a NMW for the actual delivery but the nurses were very good throughout the labor. I was there a long time too:) 28 hours of labor before my DD arrived. Great rooms- jacuzzi tub- good food (after!) etc. Couldn't have had a better enviornment. They also send a nurse to your house if you want (so you don't have to go back to the hospital) 5 days after your LO is born. Very helpful- the nurse spent over 2 hours at my house. Highly recommend!
