To all Disposable Diaper users:
Would you be interested in participating in a compostable diaper program? I'm looking to implement one in the Central MA area and I'd love to hear your feedback. I've always used disposable diapers for my daughter and recently I discovered Nature Babycare diapers, which are biodegradable. I depend on the convenience that disposable diapers provide, but I hate filling up my trash bags with them each week.
Re: Would you participate in Diaper Compost Program?
Hi Meg!
Biodegradable diapers don't cost much more than regular disposables. But they're a lot better for the environment and your baby. They're made of natural materials that breathe easier than traditional ones made of plastic and they're chlorine free.
My plan is to set up a weekly delivery/pick-up schedule with interested customers. Fresh diapers would be delivered weekly and the dirty ones would be collected for composting. The diapers would then be brought to a local composting site and in 14 weeks they'll biodegrade into nutrient rich soil.
