How many oz of formula and how much food is your 11 or 12 month old eating? How big is each serving of finger foods that they are actually consuming?
I have been adding in baby food/finger foods since my son was 6 months old. When he was eating purees I know exactly how much he was eating, but now that he is eating more finger foods,I feel like he is not eating enough at each sitting. He grazes that food although a lot falls on his lap and he stops when he is ready:) He hasn't dropped any bottles and they are still every 3 hours with the same amount of formula as always. Should I be forcing him to eat more? Shouldn't he be dropping a bottle or have them more spread out if he is also eating finger foods?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)
Re: How much is your 11/12 month old eating
Our son is a year old. He has been on milk for about a month now and drinks about 16oz a day.
He eats 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks. I will give him a meat, fruit, veg, and starch at each meal. He's an eater. He's good at picking food up and eating it. A lot still goes on the floor. I know it's hard to figure out how much when they switch from the purees to table food. I was worried at first that he wasn't eating enough too. I would sometimes give him 1/2 a jar of puree after he'd eaten table food just to be sure he wasn''t hungry still.
Now he never has purees at all. I'd just let him go to town eating until he starts to show sings he's done like playing and throwing it around. The snack help to make sure they're getting enough food. He gets yougurt, puffs, cheese, fruit, pita bread with hummus or peanut butter, cheerios, and lots of other stuff for snacks.
My guy still nurses about 5 times a day, has 8 oz of milk at daycare, 3 meals, and 1 snack. He's apparently an eater.
Usually he eats everything I give him, but I modify the size a bit. So last night we had a whole stuffed pepper and scalloped corn. He had half a stuffed pepper and didn't eat his corn.
