Anyone's LO not crawling yet?

Hi Girls,

My daughter is rolling to get where she wants to go, and not crawling.  She loves to get to standing stand by using our fingers or leaning on furniture, but she doesn't look like she's anywhere near learning how to crawl or get from lying down to sitting without help.  Anyone in our boat, and if not, anyone have any tips of how we could help her?  If we lie her down and put an object out of her reach, she will just roll around until she can get the object.

Re: Anyone's LO not crawling yet?

  • My LO does the same thing; she rolls around instead of crawling. I'm not too worried about it. Some babies never crawl. They just go straight to walking. Although, I think LO might be close to crawling. If she's got something behind her to push off of, she will get up on her hands and knees and start rocking back and forth.

It is hard because it seems like everyone on the bump is way ahead and their babies reach milestones super early. I wouldn't use the bump as a benchmark to judge how your LO is doing.

  • My DD is not crawling yet.  I am taking her to the peditrician to talk about a possible PT evaluation,  however, my daughter also does not like to put weight on her legs so we have other issues.

  • Alex still isn't crawling. He's kind of pulling himself in the direction of yogurt melts if I lay some in front of them, but that's the only thing he will do that for. He rolls around and walks, but no crawling.

  • Just some encouragement. We were at this point until about 3 weeks ago, Abby has since become a crawling pro. Your LO's are going at their own pace and doing fine. We never thought she was going to crawl, but now it's all I can do to keep her out of the dog dishes :) Hugs and enjoy each of your LO's milestones :)

  • No crawling here either. Literally rolls across the room and pushes his butt in the air. I asked the pedi the other day at his 9 month appt and he wasn't the least bit concerned. He loves to stand holding on to furniture. I'm trying not to worry, but of course it's hard not to!
  • No crawling here either, he just rolls and rolls.  Our pedi was not concerned at all either when we went for his 9 month check up.

  • No crawling here, and really no rolling, either. She's getting up on all fours and rocking, but no forward movement, yet. She can roll. She just chooses not to. Our son (who is now 2.5) was a late crawler, and really only crawled for a month or so before he walked. Our daughter has been concentrating on (and excelling in) other areas. She is very verbal, and very relational.

The crawling will come. Until then, I'm savoring this time of immobility while it lasts. This, my friends, is the sweet spot! :-)
