Now to keep him this way and get contractions started.....
MW has had to delay her appointments with me for the past two days because she had an overdue mom that labored for about forever before requiring a cs. Baby was 8.9 and face up. I'm next in line to deliver (due Sunday) and I'm so paranoid about him being face up. I'm doing yoga, watching TV on my hands and knees, and even plan on going to a public (indoor) pool this weekend to float on my belly - in front of people. I want so bad to have this baby at home, and a cs isn't even something I've allowed to enter my mind as a consideration. I think I'm basically going to be on my hands and knees until this little bugger comes out.
Sorry, just needed to let that out!
Re: Hooray, baby is face down!
I had a multi-day labor with DS1, so I feel for that mama. The good news is that in a supportive setting, OP babies can be born vaginally in most cases. It sounds like that mama had some extinuating circumstances.
Also, remember that babies can change position during labor. Both of my boys started labor OP but were not born that way. DS1 turned OT shortly before pushing began (OT is even less optimal--ugh); and DS2 turned OA about 3 pushes before delivery. Yes, back labor is hard but it is still doable.
Keep on rocking your optimal positioning tricks, but remember that all is not lost if OA isn't the case for you. Happy birthing!
