Running in the Rain?

So I'm doing C25K and I'm on the end of week four and rain is expected for most of next week. I know if I miss a week, I won't come back. So I'm going to suck it up and run in the rain. What do I need? I have a Bob Duallie, and I'm thinking of investing in the rain cover. Anyone have experience with that? Do I need waterproof socks? Do I just dress like I normally do?

Re: Running in the Rain?

  • I usually just wear my old shoes so my current ones stay dry/in  good shape.

  • Definitely get a cover:  you're moving (and thus, warmer), but DD isn't, and she'll get wet and cold!
  • It depends on how hard the rain is coming down and what the temp is. It's snowing up here, but if it's a warm rain where you are, that would be okay! I just wear a waterproof coat and hat. Shoes I don't mind getting nasty and that's about it!

  • All I would add to my normal stuff (based on air temperature) would be a brimmed hat. You're gonna get wet with sweat, what's a few raindrops? I'd also wear my regular shoes. You're kidding yourself if you think your feet won't sweat (i.e. get wet) during a run. :) Good luck and have fun!
