I received a hand-me-down crib mattress from a friend. No rips, tears, or sags. Her little one used it for about 9 months total. It's an expensive brand name mattress. The mattress itself has a plastic cover over the entire thing that also doesn't have any signs of wear. Is this safe to reuse? the only thing I've found as a potential threat are gases being emited from the materials, but I am completely fine with purchasing one of those non-permeable mattress covers from Amazon, etc. Would you reuse a mattress with a newly purchased mattress cover? Or am I being a cheap, bad mom? Feel free to be honest!
