Long Overdue Birth Story

Short Version:

Eliza Frances was born September 18 at 7:58a via scheduled c/s, weighing 10lbs, 1oz and measuring 21in. We are over the moon!

Long Version:

After telling me for weeks to expect a big baby--and me telling them I didn't believe it because ultrasounds always seem off--we welcomed our 10lb,1oz Squishy on 9/18/12. I had a scheduled c/s at 39wks (due to a previous surgery) without any complications. My OB is a friend of mine and it was a lot of fun to hear her squeal as she pulled her out about how big she was--even bigger than she thought she would be!

My Birth Preferences asked that we be able to see her before they cleaned her up and the awesome pedi not only let me see her, but actually put her on my chest and cleaned her there. I couldn't stop crying and DH was crying over my shoulder as we marveled that our girl was actually here.

I am allergic to pain meds, so I had to do the surgery with no morphine in my spinal and only ibuprofen to recover and I've been amazed that my recovery was so easy with very minimal pain--something that has shocked me as much as having a 10 pounder has.

It honestly took me a couple of days to really bond and accept that it was real and let myself completely fall in love, but wow, as soon I did it has been amazing. She is perfect and we couldn't be more grateful for our sweet rainbow.

The support I got on TTCAL and here on PGAL has been so amazing and got me through the darkest days. Thanks for also being there to celebrate the brightest.
