STMs...wives tale or truth?

First, I realize this is totally ridiculous, but I'm just curious....

I have horrible heartburn (I take Prilosec every 24 hours and still eat 10-20 Tums a day!) Everyone I tell is like you're going to have a baby with tons of hair.

I know what is WANT doesn't matter but I just want a bald baby. I don't know why, I just do! Obviously a heathy baby is most important to me, this is just a fun question I thought I'd throw out there....

I kept telling people that she wouldn't have hair. I said, " I have heartburn because I always have heartburn" even before pregnancy. She was born with a head full of hair, but it fell out. She started growing it back around 9 months.

I voted heartburn/bald, but Ds had very fine fluff when born, so he wasn't a cue ball!

I read in one of the pregnancy magazines that this is actually one of the few OWTs that has some truth to it.

My son had hair and the heartburn during his pregnancy was awful!! With this pregnancy, the heartburn started even earlier, so I'm thinking she will have hair, too.

Definitely an OWT.

I'm a FTM so no experience here but my mom said she had heartburn with all of her pregnancies and 3 of 4 of us were born bald.

henry was born with hair but based on how bad my HB was he should have been a monkey! He had a very normal amt of hair.

Honestly i think it was about my body. I am very very short waisted, the shortest waisted person I know. And I believe that caused less room and leads to digestive issues. Im having it again this time and I imagine every pregnancy I will. Hair or not.

This one bugs me because I do not think that is why I have hb starting at 13 weeks or so. And it gets really really old to hear everyone commenting on the hair.

Actually this isnt a wive's tale... in quite a few medical documentaries i've watched they said the hormone that causes hair growth for baby also triggers heartburn.

correlation=/= causation.

There are many physiological/biomechanical reasons why heartburn in pregnancy is common, and many have nothing to do with hair.

This is one that I believe to be slightly true. I had horrible heartburn from the beginning with DS and he came out with tons of hair. It fell out though, and slowly grew back.

I'm going to go with other because I guess I'm kind of a SS. I didn't have any heartburn until the last few weeks, but then it was terrible! DS came out with some hair, but not a ton. He was definitely not bald, but not crazy hair like you see some babies have!

yeah mine was terrible all the way through basically, and he was born with a very normal amount of hair.

This. He was not "bald" but he didn't have thick hair.

I had awful heartburn with DS and he only had about 5 hairs until he was 9 months old! I have heartburn again this time, but am still hopeful for a little girl with some hair. (DH was a bald baby but I had tons of hair, so maybe she'll take after me!)

With DD, I had heartburn REALLY BAD, but not until the last month or so. It got so bad I slept sitting up on the couch. She came out with a head full of dark hair, but it all fell out by about 3 months and she was pretty bald (sorta fuzzy headed) until about 9-10 months.

With this one, the heartburn has already started. Not all the time and not every day, but it is there, and earlier than before. I'm curious to see if DS will be born with lots of hair or not.

I had a ton of heartburn from very early on in the pregnancy and here is DS about a hour after he was born. He never lost his hair. It only grew. Now he'll get a hair cut and end up needing another one 2 weeks later.
