Before LO I wore lots of shorts and tanks (live in warm climate) and beach wear. I wore a lot of sun dresses etc when I'm not at work...I'm back to pp weight, but feel like I should be dressing a little more "mommy like"..So I'm looking for a new wardrobe...
Anyone else changing their style after baby?
Re: Have you changed your fashion style?
I wasn't super fashion conscious before, but I did like to look nice. I am fitting back into all my bottoms (except my super skinny jeans that I had to hold my breath to get into pre-preg), but my bigger boobs are posing more of a problem. Now the main thing I look for in an outfit is, Can I nurse him in this easily?
All summer I wore shorts with stretchy tank tops or T shirts. Now that it's colder I've swapped shorts for jeans and added a cardigan but I need to get out my actual winter clothes soon and see what will work. I have lots of sweaters that I love for winter that I didn't get to wear much last year, so I hope to be able to wear them this winter.
I plan on extended BF, so it's worth the investment in new tops. While I've been out shopping, I have had a few, "Can a mom wear this?" Moments or as I walked into a younger store, "Can a mom shop here?" Thoughts.
It's funny because my friend and I were joking about BIL's girlfriend, that I really don't care for. My friend said something sarcastic about her like, "oh come on, she's trendy, though!" And she really isn't, but she likes to tell people she is. When my friend said that, I replied, "I don't need trendy friends anymore, I'm a mom now, the antithesis of trendy!" Of course I was joking, I don't think you have to become a bob haircut, mom jean and sweater set wearing mom, but there's definitely been a shift!
My look has changed but mostly because I am nursing. I used to wear a lot of dresses to work and these aren't really conducive to pumping at work (picture me in the teacher's lounge, in an old shower stall, trying to strip half naked-- no thanks!)
I am only 2 lbs over my pp weight (although I was never a size 0 or 2-- who are you people?!??? Super Models Anonymous?) and things are mostly fitting OK (though my butt still gives J Lo a run for her money) besides my giant boobs. I find that pants that are not quite as tight in the waist help with the muffin top issue. For me, flowy/looser tops make me look bigger. Basically I have been sticking with jeans or skirts (or let's be honest, pajama pants), nursing tanks and cardigans.
It's kind of a bummer because I was so looking forward to getting back into all my cute stuff but nursing has curbed that... for now...
Yeah, I'm kinda thinking that they're probably gonna stick around after all
I also have an Oscar the Grouch one...
