My Brest Friend vs Boppy?

Which did you prefer while healing from your C-section? Also, did you bring your breastfeeding pillow to the hospital with you?

Re: My Brest Friend vs Boppy?

  • I have brestfriend and I bought it to the hospital when LO was born.

I'm probably the weird one, but I love using a pillow instead of BrestFriend. This time round, I will use a pillow too, more comfortable to me.

  • I had a Boppy. I used pillows at the hospital - football hold was working better for us at that point.

I switched to EPing after two or three weeks, so the Boppy didn't get much use after that.

  • Loved My Brest Friend--and yes, I brought it to the hospital with both kids.  With DD (my 1st) I was by no means a BF expert and it helped to have it there with the lactation consultants.

  • I preferred the Boppy. I did not take it to the hospital.

  • I loved the Boppy.  I did take it to the hospital but if they'll bring you extra pillows, it's not necessary.

  • I had the Boppy and I hated it. I brought it to the hospital. It didn't stay in place at all and in your lap it is too low for the baby to reach your breasts (and I even have a short torso and big chest). I am going to try the brest friend next time.
  • I prefer MBF and brought it to the hospital.  The first 24 hours I couldn't use it b/c I couldn't sit up and found it easier to use pillows.  Today I've been alternating between pillows and MBF

  • MBF was the only way I could BF for the first 2 months.  I didn't bring it to the hospital and wish I had, because the lactation consultant just kept bringing more pillows, but nothing gave the support of MBF.  I think boppies are good for setting baby down in or for tummy time, but not breast feeding.

  • I used the Boppy to BF both kids for the sole reason that I could not bring myself to buy something called My Brest Friend.  Other than that there's nothing wrong with it; I've used it at the pedi's office and I thought it was fine.  I brought the Boppy to the hospital both times and I'm glad I did.

  • I have a Boppy and I liked it just fine until 3 wks PP when I went to a LC and used MBF.  I LOVED the MBF, but wasn't ready to fork over the money for it since I already had the Boppy.  I will keep the Boppy for my next LO, but I will most likely be purchasing a MBF for actual nursing, and just use the Boppy for sitting assistance when that LO is bigger.

  • I've had both. The MBF is so much better!!! By a landslide. It has the back support which the Boppy doesn't.

That being said, I didn't bring it with me to the hospital. I just used pillows.

  • we had the boppy in the hospital. was really great. great for bf'ing and also for plopping the swaddled child in for a bit on the bed.
  • I am a fiercely loyal Boppy fan.  I used a MBF one time at the lactation consultant's office and HATED it.  I actually have multiple Boppies so I have at least on on each floor.  I also use the Boppy to prop up the baby.  My kids still love snuggling up with a Boppy.

  • I never tried the breast friend pillow, I liked my boppy but for breastfeeding especially while still int he hospital I did prefer regular pillows.  We ended up using football hold most often the first few days :)  Good luck!

  • I had both and I DEFINITELY prefer the My Breast Friend. The boppy is great for propping up baby, tummy time, etc. but I never liked it for breast feeding. I didn't take either to the hospital with DD #1, but I think I will bring the MBF with me when I deliver DD #2 next month.

  • I only had a hoppy at first and was chronically uncomfortable with it - DD was 5 lb 9 oz when we brought her home and my boobs were huge, so I got a Breast Friend and totally preferred that to the boppy!  I just used pillows at the hospital, but they had a foot stool that I liked, so I bought one of those too that made me feel better, like I wasn't hunching over (I think it was a madela one from BRU).
  • Love my Boppy!! I brought it with me to the hospital but never used it, used pillows instead. I don't know what I was thinking because now I don't know how to breast feed without it!!
