Listen up bushes...

...and brace yourselves for the AW-ing.

1 - E took her first steps! She took 3 steps from the coffee table to my arms right after her Dada got home from work at 7:30pm. She practiced a few times and was able to make it about half way across the living room by 8:15. I'm totally floored by how fast she's progressing.

2 - I think I got a new job. About a month ago, I contacted a long-time collaborator to ask if she might have any opportunities for me in her lab. She said that she'd just hired a bunch of new people and couldn't take on more. Last week, she emailed me to say that someone from her lab quit. HR said that he position has to be officially advertised for 5 days. After that, she'll close it out and its mine if I want it. I think I really, really want it. Its a computational biology lab, so I'll learn a lot of new skills. AND its very family friendly work compared to normal bench science. Very flexible hours and I might even be able to work from home some days!

3 - In preparation for my new job, I've started brushing up on programming. I finished two chapters in my perl book today and learned a few new skills. I'm sure all the "real" programmers in my new lab will be super duper impressed ::insert massive eye roll here::

4 - I cooked dinner from scratch without a recipe and it didn't taste like a$$
