Adoption

I used to love long weekends

I used to love long weekends, but ever since we've entered the world of adoption agencies and waiting to adopt, I've learned to dislike them more and more. Why? Because the agencies are usually closed on that holiday - which means three days in a row they aren't placing babies. :(

  • Yep I can totally relate to that.  We've been stalled for US holidays and Russian holidays and the waiting sucks.  No one should ever rest, ever in the adoption world.  Don't they know how anxious we are?!?! Wink

They are teaching us patience so that we will be more patient with our children.

That's a good way to look at it.  It is frustrating though, I know it's so hard to wait!!

Just wait until you can hate long weekends for a whole new reason... when your LO is home. The weekends when they're behavior is atrocious and their whiny shrill voices make you want to cut your ears off and you count the seconds until you can send them back to daycare or school :)

I used to hate when people would say, "You just wait until you have a kid."  And I guess I've never really thought that about my kiddo.

OP, on the flip side, just think, maybe an expectant mom took home profile books over the long weekend.  You just never know!

While this is totally accurate, the temper-tantrum-y part of my brain says I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TREAT ADULTS LIKE CHILDREN! [and then continues with I WANT MY KID HOME NOOOOWWWWWWWWuh!] [picture me stamping my right foot with my fists at my side]

Having a toddler, I am often mortified at how similar he and I act (at least I do in my head).

This is totally what I thought of when I saw the title of the post!  Glad to see we aren't the only ones counting down the hours (or sometime minutes) until we can drop them off at daycare!

  • You guys are the best! And way too funny!!!!

And, we just got an email from one of our agencies about a BM they want to show our profile to this weekend, so YAY! for today and still BOO! on three days without any word! (My inner little girl is totally a toddler with you all - stomping around and yelling!)

Also - there are days I hate to hear the whole, "Just wait until..." thing and other days I don't mind. I didn't mind here because (a) you all have been through this and have a LO and (b) I needed the reminder to hold tight.

These last several weeks have been a terrible roller coaster for DH and I and reading your posts has been just what I needed to get myself back on track with all of this stuff!!!!

So, fingers crossed - this is the 9th time our profile has been shown in about 5 weeks, so maybe this one will stick.

Yeah, it's just what I thought of first. Then I felt like a jerk bc of pp. Thanks for being a jerk with me :)

I didn't mean to make you feel like a jerk--sorry.  Forgive me, I'm crazy hormonal on IVF meds.  Trust me, there are days I am ready to send my LO off to daycare.  I was just reading your post from the perspective of a soon-to-be adoptive mom who would love to have that problem.
