Costs - Cord Blood Banking

It seems as though there are quite a few promotions / coupons out there for various Cord Blood Banking firms. Would you mind sharing the cost and company you're banking with - if you've elected to do so or if you're considering it? I want to make sure I'm not overpaying.

We made the donation to a public bank, so it was completely free. The sample is coded so we can get it if we need it, but its also available if someone else is a match.

We're using CBR and doing both blood and tissue. We're paying around $2500 for the fee, and then it's $250 per year for storage.

We were considering it but the cost is just too much right now especially after I learned about the yearly storage fees.

We are banking with CBR and it is $1,700 for cord blood only. We were given a $400 discount for being return clients. Since this is our second child, we are not having a shower but a small party to celebrate the upcoming arrival of LO. Instead of gifts, we have offered a CBR registry to friends and family. Hopefully this will help with the cost.

I like the idea and MH really wants to do this, but when I checked I to the cost I was floored. There's no way we could afford that.

I donated with baby number 2 and am donating this time with number 3... I looked into banking with my first but couldn't swing the costs and didn't know about donating. If you donate you get a certificate and then they keep your registration for if you ever need to use it.

We banked with CBR for #1 and 2 and will do again for 3.

#1 = $1600 plus $125 storage fee. A couple years free storage for referrals

#2 - $1700 for being return clients

#3 - not sure yet!

We break it out into the 6 monthly payments they can charge you so it doesn't feel so bad all at once. You can even break it down into a year or two if you wanted.
