Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here?
After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program.
Homestudy complete July 19
USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13!

we got our number!
We're number 18! We're number 18! Somehow it's not as catchy to shout. But it's still nice to have that number!
But think of it, by the time we bring baby A home, there will be at least 18 fewer orphans in Uganda. WAHOO!

Laparoscopy scheduled December 2013
18 is a fantastic number! It doesn't say "waiting list" to me at all, but more "please bare with us while we your case wields its way through this large and slow paperwork bureaucracy."
18 new families for 18 (or more, if they do sibling adoptions) children! How wonderful!
Any idea approximately how long it takes to work your way up the list?

It'll probably be about a year. A vacancy in a certain position in the government means that there's a halt in getting documents that can verify legal orphan status in Kampala, so hopefully someone will be hired soon so some kids can get their parents (and parents their referrals)!
