Saywer Layne has Arrived!

So I am a total lurker, but I still would like to share my birth story with everyone.

My due date was Oct. 11th.  I was scheduled to work until Oct. 5th and then work from home until little Sawyer's arrival.  Thur. while I work I began feeling braxtone hicks contractions (this is the first time I felt any sort of contraction).  They were on and off all day but nothing that I could time.  The next day it was very similar, off and on tightening  all day.  When I got home DH was getting ready to cook dinner, so I offerend to take our mini dachshund for her evening walk.  I walk the dog and come in to sit and relax on the couch it was 5:30pm 9/28.  Suddenly I felt a lot of fluid.  I went into the bathroom and there was a complete gush (TMI sorry).  We called the dr. on call  and tried to eat some dinner while we waited for her call.  She called back and we were on our way to the hospital.

On the way it wasn't painful at all.  It felt like gas pains, like I had a stomach ache. When we arrived I stood up and my pants were completely soaked.  They admitted us to the hospital and the fun began.  Contractions weren't too bad, they checked me and I was already 3cm and 90% effaced.  By the time there was room in L&D (about 9:30pm) I was ready for the epidural.  This was amazing.  I could only see the contractions on the screen, and didn't feel a thing.  Suddenly out of no where the room filled up with Dr's. (10:30pm) and the nurse was telling me to shift from side to side (a lot more difficult with an epidural).  The baby's heartrate was dropping in the 70's every time I had a contraction.  His cord was getting compressed cause I lost so much fluid.  They hooked up internal monitors and ran an IV to increase fluid in my uterus.  After about 30 minutes of the cardiologist ribbing the baby's head (not at all pleasant) his heart rate was up again.

Around 1:15am I began to feel intense pressure in my back side and the dr. came in and said I was fully dialated and ready to start pushing. I was pushing with DH and the nurse for about an hour.  They called for the Dr. and she was in an emergency c-section.  The resident Dr. came in about 2:30am.  After over an hour of pushing little Sawyer Layne was born.  It was the best feeling in the world hearing him cry.  He was crying, I was crying, and DH was nothing but smiles!  He is now home and perfectly healthy.  He has a little jaundice because we are both learning to breast feed.

Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to share with everyone!
