weight plateau?

My lo is just about 4 months old. Up until the last few weeks he has been gaining weight like a champ. But, in the last few weeks he hasn't gained much at all. He is eating great and increasing how much he takes. And he is by no means small- 17lbs 4 ozs last night. But it does concern me that his weight gain slowed down. I figured that this would happen eventually but I feel like this is to young. Is 4 months to early? When did your lo's weight gain slow down?

Are you weighing him at home? I notice some significant fluctuations (+ or - up to 7 ounces) in my DD's weight based on when she last ate, pooped, etc. But to answer your question, their weight gain does significatly slow down but the timining of that varies greatly with preemies depending on their size at birth, feeding status, activity etc. Over 17lbs sounds great for a 4 month old though!!

First of all, your DS was big for a 31 weeker! My DD was 2lbs 11oz at 29w. So, that's great! My DD is only around 19lbs currently at 17 months. So, his weight seems great to me! They do kind of plateau, especially as they become more active. Don't worry.
