I asked about them at my sons most recent checkup and my doctor told me there's a bit of controversy about them that I should know about but I could use them if I wanted.
From my reading it looks like the AAP and american dental association both recommend it if the water contains less than 0.3ppm of fluoride, BUT, Health Canada (I live in Canada) does not recommend the use of fluoride supplements (there are potential risks like flourosis and white spots on the teeth if you get too much fluoride)
I'm concerned about cavities since I tend to get them a lot and I share food/utensils with LO so I felt he had a higher risk than if I didn't... also heresay, my aunt used fluoride drops on all 3 of her kids in the 70's and they never had any cavities. Cavity rates have declined since the 40's or 50's when fluoride became popular for children. I know a lot of moms who have little kids that have had mouth fulls of cavities that needed to be filled (probably because they dont use fluoride drops here anymore)
Since most of you live in the US I was curious what you are doing
