**HarpersMom** Re: Orange Chicken

I made it for dinner tonight, so I thought I'd let you know how it turned out!

The taste was really yummy, very orange-y but not too fake tasting, I think I cooked it wrong though...the flour kind of fell off when I went to brown it, so the chicken wasn't as breaded as a lot of take-out Orange Chicken is...it was mostly just orange covered chicken chunks haha.  Also, my slow cooker gets very hot very fast, and the chunks I cut were probably too small, so I ended up over cooking it and they were chewy.

So, B+ on taste, C- on texture/consistency, but that could totally be chef error Big Smile  Hope yours turns out better than mine!  It was yummy enough in flavor that it didn't matter about the other things though, that's worth mentioning.

A little tip, if you are into the aesthetics of it, I used dark brown sugar, and it came out a little murky looking, so next time I'm going to use light brown sugar, and hopefully it looks brighter and prettier.

  • Oh thanks for the review and tips! We have 2 crocks and one cooks hotter than the other so I will use the other one. I'm hoping it will somewhat pacify my Chinese food craving. Thanks again!

  • Is there any product available that tastes like soy sauce but isn't?! It sucks because almost all asian food has soy sauce! Makes MSPI really hard I guess because asian food is the one cuisine that it seems never uses dairy. So if it weren't for the soy intolerance you could asian food yourself to the gills!
