Does it sound made up (I know it isn't)? Silly? I love Finn and feel like Finley is too girly. Does Finnegan sound like you're trying too hard or is it cool? WDYT?

I think it's a bit of both, which is why I'd hesitate to personally use it. But I do like the name and love the nn Finn!
The only Finnegan I know is a Boston Terrier. He's adorable, but I can't think of it as a person name. (Even though I know it's a completely legit name). I like Finn on its own.
My favorite Finn name is Griffin. I think it sounds much stronger than Finley and Finnegan. I do think Finn stands alone just fine too.

Not a fan. The name Finn, Finley or Finnegan doesn't seem like they will age well, and they are not STRONG enough boys names in my mind. Oh and I also want to sing that one song, There was a man named Michael Finnegan he had wiskers on his chinagen, the wind pick up and blew them in again poor old Michael Finnegan begin again! Sorry honest opinion.

My opinion is the the names Finnegan and Finn aren't very masculine. I like names that sound strong and this just doesn't do it for me.
I do agree with several others that say, just name him Finn if you are always going to call him that and if you love it.
My friend named their daughter Anastasia and their son Gideon and they call them Tasie and Ian, to me that is just stupid. I'm just not a big NN person though.
The t.v. show Mr Dressup, he had his girl helper puppet named Cassey and she had a dog named Finnegan. It was one of the most popular t.v. shows in Canada in the 80's, so I think of a dog's name. As for Griffyn, my nephew is named that and he gets Griff or Griffy not Finn (Fynn) at all, we tried but it didn't work.

This. There's a lot of potential for making fun of a kid there.

I immediately thought of Finnegan's Wake. Which would then lead me to think you're trying too hard (hipster-ish).
I'm not a huge fan of the Finn names, but it's fine just as is.
