Nap advice

My son is almost 9 months old.  He has never been a good sleeper.  At night he starts in his crib and then we co-sleep after his first wake up.  He used to do 6 or so hours on his own.  Now he is awake 5 minutes after I put him in the crib.  At night it is ok because I just bring him to bed with me but  I'm not sure how to handle naps.  He wakes up after 5-10 minutes.  He will sleep forever of I am holding him, but I need some time to get showered and housework done.

Re: Nap advice

  • I'm horrible with naptimes so I'm not the best to contribute, but have you tried swaddling him? We use a "woombie" which is a one-piece sack that LO cannot get out of (but can still wriggle around in), and it holds him in and he sleeps wonderfully in it.  I haven't yet used it for naptimes, so we'll see how that goes when I do try it.

  • Same here! I have to nurse my DS to sleep if I wanna avoid the drama of him resisting and then if I move he wakes right away or wont sleep as long. Have you tried putting him down for more frequent naps if he's sleeping less? If he's overtired he wont sleep as long and will resist more. Maybe white noise like a fan blowing softly and a warm water bottle wrapped in a towel next to him will help him feel like someone's there.
