which one do you reccomend. I would like one that you can forward face in and I don't think the ergo does that. Are there any major differences between the two
I have both and I'm really digging the Beco Gemini. It's trimmer, less bulky, the straps fit me well, cooler and my 6'2" 270lb husband can also wear it. My LO is only 11weeks and is still content facing in, but if he's like his big brother, he will want to face out a little bit in a couple months.
The two biggest downsides IMO is the Gemini doesn't have a pocket or hood like the ergo does, but I remedy this by having LO wear a sun hat and using a small backpack
i have both. when my babies were little i preferred the Beco hands down. It was trimmer and fit better, and I had the one with the inner panel so it was super easy to get them into a backcarry once they were 3 or 4 months.
Once they hit 9ish months it totally switched and the ergo is my go to. Its much faster to get the baby on and off, and it doesn't seem as big/bulky now that the baby is bigger. Plus now a back carry in the ergo isnt so hard to get into.
The gemini is the only one that forward faces...but keep in mind that forward facing is a position that is much harder on the wearer's back - and most babies are just fine never doing it!
The gemini has a narrower body and is a better fit for small babies. The butterfly has an internal harness which some feel makes a back carrier easier (others hate it). The ergo actually has three different models - all fit a bit differently.
The best advice is to try all of them on and see which you find the most comfortable. One other major difference to consider is that some allow the straps to cross behind you in a front carry (like the Gemini) and some you have to wear like a reverse backpack (like the ergo) - some find one option much more comfortable than the other so it's worth trying them out.
