My daughter is 14 months. She has always struggled with naps at daycare. They moved her to a cot about 2 months ago and it seems she is sleeping even worse (I can watch on video feed and she has several wake ups). Max nap is an hour. They also rock her and pat her back each time, habits luckily we have not had to do at home, as we worked really hard to break them at about 8 months.
I guess I just wonder if this is normal amount of sleep to get at daycare? I worry it's not enough. she is extremely cranky when we get home around 6 and in bed by around 7 or 7:30 usually.
anyone else with LO around the same age have any experiences to share?
Re: how long does your LO nap at day care?
Who knows. At his old center, he napped solidly every day for about 2-2.5 hours. This started around 15 months, when he moved to the toddler room/went down to one nap a day.
He started at a different school in July, and they don't track his nap, so I have no clue. There have been at least a few times he hasn't napped at all (literally before this he has only not napped once in his whole life) and I know for sure he sleeps less because they wake them at 3 regardless of whether or not they are still sleeping/fell asleep late/etc.
DD is the same age, and also has always been a crappy napper, especially at DC. When she moved to the toddler room at 1 year, they switched to 1 nap a day on a cot. It ranges from 45 mins to 1.5 hours. It hasn't affected her nighttime sleep (7-7) so I'm not too worried. Very rarely, if nap was shorter than 45 mins, she'll nod off on the carride home for 15 mins or so, but it doesn't seem to affect bedtime.
On weekends, I still put her down for an am and pm nap, they each last about 45 mins-1 hr which has been pretty typical.
Baby Girl #2 is on her way!
My DS has always been a good napper at daycare. When he was under one, he was napping about 5 hours during the day(2 nap times). He is now taking two 1.5hr naps.
