Constant eye rubbing

Does your LO do this constantly still? DS is constantly rubbing his eyes with the back of his hands and wakes himself up from his nap because of this. Is this normal behavior that lasts for  several weeks?? Or is he really itchy and uncomfortable around his eyes?

    I just noticed in the past few days that when my LO is tired he begins rubbing his eyes. He has never done this before. I am taking it as an indication that he wants to nap. It doesn't take long for him to fall asleep once I see him rubbing his eyes.
