I keep seeing that the October 2012 Mommies did a Superlatives thingy for their board and seeing as how I have no life and all and think those things can be very funny, would anyone be interested in doing January 2013 Superlatives?
Just a thought to see if anyone would be interested.
Re: Superlatives or "Bump Awards"
They might also be called "Bump Awards" or something like that. Things like:
Cutest Bump
Snarkiest Bumpie
Most likely to have Irish Twins
:P Stuff like that.
We can come up with however many categories we want. Then do nominations where everyone nominates one person for each category and then we'll do a vote with the top 5 nominees. And I can make badges for each winner. I'm trying to think of more categories...
Best Use of GIFs
Most Supportive
Best Blog
Biggest AW
Grammar Police
Best Bump
Cutest Current Family (other LOs)
Biggest Drama Queen
Most Photogenic
Most likely to have 10 kids
Good ones!
Cutest Pet(s)
Most Knowledgable
Twin Girls-Eden Alyssa and Ilana Claire born 12.12.12!
Biggest Pregnancy Brain
Most Rainbows and Puppies (Most Positive)
Most Opinionated
I think this could be really really fun! However, I have 2 things to mention bc apparently I'm Debbie Downer!
1. This could quickly turn into a popularity contest and those who don't post every day could be left out.
2. I'm not sure I know everybody enough to vote yet!
::hands back the mic::
That's true- I completely agree. Maybe we should wait a month or so?
I do agree with those points and I've thought about them.
I agree that we should wait a little while longer on starting with the actual voting and all, I just wanted to get the idea out there and get started getting some ideas for categories. I would like to start mid-October or a little later before some of us get lost in the holidays.
About the popularity contest... It is impossible to include EVERYONE. (Sorry, I will not be getting the Rainbows and Puppies awards). If you post once a week or month or less you probably won't get nominated or win. *shrug* But you can always campaign and try to. Also, we'll have lots of categories (more serious ones and some silly ones) and that way more people can win.
Also, you only have to nominate someone for the categories you feel like you know who to nominate.
Superlatives IMO while fun always lead to hurt feelings. We had them on TN on a board I use to participate on.
Lol, they did this when I was on TTGP and I didn't post a lot over there so I didn't get nominated for anything but it was still fun to see because I recognized a lot of the winners names.
yeah, it was fun. But we should be careful with the "negative" superlatives. Some people get really upset when they are nominated for something like AW, or Snarkiest. I personally wouldn't get upset, but it did happen with the TTGP Bumpie awards.

I think this is a good idea in another month or so, Raeily. I already have an impression of the most frequent posters. Not that I can call myself this, but I always think the "most knowledgeable" is a nice award.
Also, I can't think of any negative awards for any of the gals/guy. We have such a supportive group.

I always find these things a lot of fun, even though I never win any. :P I just thought it'd be a neat idea coming up.
We can put together a list of awards and then if anyone thinks any are too "negative" or would be offended if they won it they can just PM me and we'll take it off before the nominations.
I feel like we're all big girls here that I've seen and I think a lot of people would wear the "Snarkiest" badge with pride. ^_^
This. We had them on my local TK board a few years ago, and it caused major drama.
Is there something wrong with me that I think that it's ridiculous to get upset over some silly fun? Honestly, if enough people are worried it's gonna cause issues then we won't do it, but I'm inclined to tell people to put their damn big girl panties on.
Oh, oh! I wanna do this!
But only if I win somethin'
If I remember correctly, the way it worked on the TTGP awards was that someone created a new TB account and people submitted their votes via PM to that account. That person tallied & posted the results. She made sure that no person won more than one award, that way no one "sweeps" most of the awards. This seems like a fair way to do it.

I can already think of a few people I would nominate for some of these awards!
Some other categories could be:
Best Recipes
Best Siggy
Funniest

I've seen some pretty clever sn's around here, so that would be a fun category
I can make a "Participation" badge if some people are gonna feel left out...
I don't think it's about feeling left out, but more about making sure no one person wins a ton of awards. Makes it seem more fair/less like a popularity contest that way.

Dear Baby Pacheco...
Ugh. Wrote a response and it disappeared.
I was being "snarky".
I think that we have such a large group of active posters that it won't be a problem of having one or two people win a ton of awards. I think that there is a possibility that someone could win two but it wouldn't be a big deal.
I don't think it's "fair" to have someone not get an award even if they have the votes just because someone else would feel left out. That's babying people. I'd feel crappy if I got an award just because the three other people who might've gotten it had already gotten something. But sure, if enough people want to do it that way, so be it.
I think this is a great idea!
I do remember it being on TTGP in the spring and there were some that got their panties up in a bunch. I was new, so I obviously wasn't nominated for anything. It didn't bother me. If your new, hardly post, or are never around, you can't really expect to get nominated and therefore shouldn't be upset when you don't.
Like others said, it's meant to be fun and if you're really going to let it bring you down, perhaps a community forum with a bunch of people you don't know really isn't the place for you anyway.
I like the idea of haing a variety of topics, some realistic, some fun, some funny, etc. The more ideas the better IMO. I agree with Lando about the negative connotations, we may want to avoid ones like the snarkiest, etc.
I'm up for whatever though. I think it's going to be fun!!

I think with enough categories, there isn't really a need to make it that way. I think just doing it and letting you win what you win should be fine, we're all big girls here!
