Puking baby help

C has thrown up 4 times now - at 9:30 last night, midnight, 3:00 am (just bile at that point) and at 8:00.  I nursed her at 5:00 am and it stayed down so I tried nursing her again at 7:45 and she immediately threw it all back up.  I am going to go and get her some Pedialyte.  Any other tips, this is the first time I have had to deal with a sick baby (and watching her sign for milk and water is making me so sad).  Sad

  • I am sorry! The Pedialyte is a good idea. I'm not much help, but maybe call her pedi and ask what you should be doing.

  • Generally just pedialyte and wait it out with lots of cuddles.  Its so sad when they are sick, hope she feels better soon! Even though there is probably nothing the Pedi can do, you can always call to see what they say.

Oh and limit milk (if she drinks it).  I dont mean BM, but our pedi told us that when kids are sick, cows milk in the morning makes some of them throw up, and it definitely did for Jack.

  • oh no! poor baby :(  the Pedialyte is great, but it tastes GROSS.  so be warned, your LO might not want it.  they also make it in popsicle form, that might be easier for her to take in.  good luck!

  • Watch for fever and diarrhea...  Also dehydration.  As long as she is nursing, she will probably be fine.  If she doesn't stop vomitting after 24 hours, talk to the dr.
