In effort to keep this short I'll just get to the facts.
DS is sensory seeking and has a fine motor and speech delay. The speech and SMD seem to run in my family. I have 6 siblings, 3 with diagnosed SPD and all 7 of us had a speech delay.
We are having some concerns with 2 y/o DD's speech. She also has some behaviors that make us wonder if she has a few sensory issues as well. I think that just given family history, she probably does. But I also wonder if some of the things she does is just her imitating her brother.
We're going the childfind and developmental pediatrician route. She is no where near as extreme as DS, so I'm battling with "she's doing this because she sees her brother" or "push push push and get her private OT"
Obviously, no one here can tell me how she's wired. Just looking for input if you have 2 or more kids and one has SPD.

Re: SPD and siblings
My oldest has a dx case of SPD, my youngest has a suspected case (we're on the waitlist for an OT eval, but my son's OT says she has a lot of behaviors that coincide with SPD) and I likely had it as a child.
Both my kids have opposite behaviors--my youngest doesn't mimic my oldest. My oldest is a sensory seeker and hyperactive. My youngest is under responsive--she has a low energy level/ low muscle tone, limited response to pain/sound.
My OT says while there's no concrete proof that it is genetic, she commonly sees SPD between sibs.
