What does LO wear during the day?

My mom watches LO during the day, and we were talking about his clothes.  She said, why don't you just put him in the one piece clothes with feet?  I call those "sleepers" and think of them as pjs.  It would feel weird to dress him in those during the day. I usually do a onesie, pants, socks and hoodie.  But I have no idea if that's just a "me" thing, or if that's how others do it.  Not like he would really care!

So---just curious: do you dress LO in "sleepers" during the day?

Re: What does LO wear during the day?

  • He pretty much only wears "sleepers". One piece things with feet.

  • DS is usually only in footies at night. He is in onesies or outfits during the day (it is still hot here).

  • I do what you do.  I consider those pajamas, and I don't leave the house in my pj's, so neither do my kids.  DD leaves the house in an outfit, headband, and shoes every day.  That said, the babysitter does remove the headband and shoes for comfort, which is obviously fine.

  • My MIL watches Emmy during the day and she also requested we put her in a onepiece outfit with zippers she has carpal tunnel and the snaps are difficult for her. So she's in those almost every weekday and on weekends, we put her in other outfits.

  • If DH is home with Athena, he will let her hang out in sleepers sometimes. Otherwise, I keep those for bedtime. That way, she knows when I put the sleeper on, it's getting to the bedtime routine-time. I love to dress her in adorable outfits, but she hates if she can't touch her toes. So jeans when we're hanging out at home are a no-go. She loves leggings. During the summer, I put her in a lot of rompers if we were just hanging out at home. Easy and cool!

  • We only use sleepers for bedtime, we also kept him in pjs when he had a bad cold and just didn't feel well.

He usually wears outfits to daycare but they are comfy outfits like stretchy pants and longsleeve onesies and socks. jeans and pants are usually for church or other times we go out somewhere special.

  • He wears long sleeve onesies with comfy pants & socks during the day.  At night he wears the footed sleepers with a sleepsack.  We only did sleepers during the day when he was tiny.

  • Days we stay home usually a long sleeved onesie with pants and cute socks. When we go out I put her in cuter outfits... jeans, leggings, with a sweater or top.

  • IMO those are for sleeping. S wear onesie with either comfy pants, jeans or khakis and a tee shirt or button down shirt and hoodie if necessary. S wears two piece pj's now cause the length on sleepers lasts about 2 days!

  • I don't use sleepers during the day. Usually outfits, like onsies with pants or whatever and socks.

for me, this is practical. I don't want the sleepers all worn out and have to be washed all the time. and I have a lot of like, actual clothes and outfits I've gotten as gifts or at mom to mom sales.

  • I send L to daycare in outfits, usually they are one piece (rompers) or a 2 piece outfit that are bloomers and a dress/top like thing (not fancy). The backup clothes that I keep at DC are onesies. Everything I send her in is easy for changes.

  • DS goes to school typically dressed in some Carters 3 piece set (Pants, onsie, sweatshirt) or Jeans and a cute top.  I never wear sleepers during the day either.

This. But sometimes she wears Longsleeve shirts instead of the onesies. I like the sleepers just for bed so she knows it's bedtime.

  • No sleepers during the day for us.  DD goes to DC and wears outfits.  Cheap, inexpensive, hand-me-down or Carter's outfits.

  • We only use the footed sleepers at night.  For daycare, I usually dress her in onesies and some pants.  Since it's cooling down, Old Navy has these long-sleeve/pants onsies that seem pretty comfy.  I don't even put socks on her cause I'm afraid they'll just fall off and get lost at DC.  Guess I should start though once it definitely gets colder!

  • I don't do footed sleepers during the day either, I consider those to be PJs. She has so many cute outfits that people have given her, may as well get use out of those during the day. I usually put her in pants and a long sleeve shirt or onesie during the day. I do have some one piece long sleeve rompers without feet and I will put her in those during the day too.

  • It's still extremely hot here in CA, so I don't ever dress her in long sleeves, pants, or stuff with feet. Usually just a onesie or a dress. I don't usually put a skirt or shorts over the onesie, because I'm too lazy to take it on and off for diaper changes.

  • I LOVE sleepers...but he rarely wears them during the day. I would put him in those more often, but he has so many clothes (hand me downs and gifts) that don't fit that description, that I don't want to see those outfits go to waste.

I suppose I do think sleepers are more for night, but they are so comfy and convenient, if we didn't have all the other clothes, I'd totally dress him in those more often:)

Do what works best for you!

  • It's too hot here still for that (100 degrees yesterday!).  He wears either a onesie or a romper.  He only wears sleepers during naptime at DC and at night.  I will probably put him in sleepers during the day when it gets colder though.

  • It varies, but he wears sleepers during the day pretty often. If it's chilly out I'll put him in a sleeper, because it's so much easier than socks, pants, onesie, long sleeved shirt...if it's warm I'll put him in a onesie or pants and a t-shirt. But it really depends on what's clean, what my hand lands on when I put it in the closet, etc. I don't put a lot of thought into it at the moment.

  • We usually do a onesie with pants. If it's a lazy day we stay in our pajamas which is what I consider the sleepers.

  • Same as most: onsie, pants, socks, hoodie for day. Sleepers for the night. Though I gave our sitter a few sleepers in case there was a major blowout or spitup. Then I don't have several pieces lying around her house.
