Babies: 9 - 12 Months

CIO mommies

My ds has a cold, and may possibly be teething.  As a result he is waking 2-3 times a night and I have been going in to nurse him to get him back to sleep.  I know we will have to do some form of CIO again when he is better, but will it be like starting over?  What have your experinced been.  TIA

Re: CIO mommies

  • My DD went through a couple of phases where she wasn't sick, but she would just resist going to bed (she was a little older, like early toddlerhood).  This happened a couple of times within a 6 month period, so we had to do CIO.  Each time it only took 1-2 nights for about 20 minutes or so.

You may not have to do CIO again though - he might just start getting himself settled on his own once he starts feeling better.  Hope he feels better soon!

  • DD has been constipated recently which caused her to start waking more and have a hard time going to sleep.  Her constipation was finally cleared up yesterday.  Although it still was a little more difficult to get her to sleep last night, once she feel asleep she STTN till 6 a.m.  She had been getting up around 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. when she wasn't feeling well so I was pretty relieved to see she just went back to STTN.  And today for her morning nap, she went right to sleep again (maybe cried for 45 sec).  I'm hoping she sticks with this because I was also worried we be back to starting over again.
