I feel very lucky that LO has yet to contract even the slightest sniffle (knock on wood). She's not in daycare but I certainly don't keep her isolated. I took her with me to the grocery store on my way home from the hospital 2 days after she was born lol and she was around a ton of people very early on...(I was a real A-hole about people using hand sanitizer before they touched her though). She also was not breast fed because I had no supply. Hmmmm.
I read somewhere that infants who are raised with household pets have a higher level of immunity ...I have 2 dogs and a cat that is just in LOVE with DD, rubbing kitty drool all over her. Or maybe she's just a genetic freak?
Anyone else who's babe has yet to be sick at all? Just curious
Re: Has anyone else's baby NOT gotten sick yet?
Yay for a healthy kid! It really is gut wrenching to see them suffer from fairly minor things that we are all used to like stuffy, runny noses, fever or even worse, vomiting. DD hasn't been as lucky as your baby, she's gotten sick a few times this year and we have pets in the house.
I have felt incredibly lucky that this is the first time she got sick and it wasn't even anything major. FWIW, I BF and SAH and we have two dogs. I am sure some of that contributed to her not getting sick.
Sigh I wish! DS is in daycare so I expect it now. Before daycare he only got sick once and it was from his cousin. I feel like babies being around germy elementary school kids = automatic sick. Bah.
ETA: I wanted to add that we do have pets. I think pets help decrease allergies, but I am not sure if they have much to do with protecting against viruses.
Amelia just got sick. We took her to her pediatrician on Saturday and she has an ear infection.
My son, who is 3.5, has only been sick 4 times- the 4th of which is now. Have 2 sick kids (and getting it yourself) sucks!
