Has anyone else's baby NOT gotten sick yet?

I feel very lucky that LO has yet to contract even the slightest sniffle (knock on wood). She's not in daycare but I certainly don't keep her isolated. I took her with me to the grocery store on my way home from the hospital 2 days after she was born lol and she was around a ton of people very early on...(I was a real A-hole about people using hand sanitizer before they touched her though). She also was not breast fed because I had no supply. Hmmmm.

I read somewhere that infants who are raised with household pets have a higher level of immunity ...I have 2 dogs and a cat that is just in LOVE with DD, rubbing kitty drool all over her. Or maybe she's just a genetic freak?

Anyone else who's babe has yet to be sick at all? Just curious :)

  • Yay for a healthy kid! It really is gut wrenching to see them suffer from fairly minor things that we are all used to like stuffy, runny noses, fever or even worse, vomiting. DD hasn't been as lucky as your baby, she's gotten sick a few times this year and we have pets in the house.

  • We were good till August when she got her first and only cold...and it was HELL. Two weeks of runny nose and no appetite and she stuck to me like glue. Good for you for avoiding the germies this long!

  • We haven't even had a sniffle either (double knock on wood).  I'm the same as you, no daycare, but she is out and about daily and has been as long as I can remember.  Interesting about the pets, we have 2 cats that are all up in her business all. the. time!!!

  • DD had a little cold this summer, but nothing too bad.  She's never been for a 'sick visit' to the pedi though.

  • DD had been completely healthy until about 3 weeks ago when she came down with a little cold and slight fever. It only lasted 2 days.

I have felt incredibly lucky that this is the first time she got sick and it wasn't even anything major. FWIW, I BF and SAH and we have two dogs. I am sure some of that contributed to her not getting sick.

  • Sigh I wish! DS is in daycare so I expect it now. Before daycare he only got sick once and it was from his cousin. I feel like babies being around germy elementary school kids = automatic sick. Bah.

ETA: I wanted to add that we do have pets. I think pets help decrease allergies, but I am not sure if they have much to do with protecting against viruses.

  • E was mostly FF and never got sick. He picked up strep throat this year had a headache for one day, I was knocked on my azz with it for 2 weeks. Lo on the other hand is sick all the time. E I think gets it from my dad. He was almost 70 going through chemo with multiple kinds of cancer and was golfing 18 holes and carrying huge bags of mulch around their yard landscaping. Lo takes after MHs family lookswise and they get sick a lot.
  • Just one cold in the spring.

  • Nothing here yet!!  I feel so lucky!  LO doesn't do daycare, was only BF, and we don't have pets.  She does get out and about most days though.  Let the streak continue!!
  • Thankfully DS has not been sick yet either! I'm knocking on wood because I've been feeling a little funny and sore lately, I'm just hoping its a mix of allergies and pregnancy. I BF him for about 3 months but at 2 months we were already supplementing, I got my flu shot with him and I didn't keep him isolated either. Oh and we also have pets as well as the in-laws. DH and I don't get sick very often so maybe he's gonna be like us.

  • Knock wood she's never been sick.  Her nose is runny, but it's from teething.  I'm afraid everyone at her classes is going to think she's sick and I'm 'that mom'.

  • Amelia just got sick. We took her to her pediatrician on Saturday and she has an ear infection.

My son, who is 3.5, has only been sick 4 times- the 4th of which is now. Have 2 sick kids (and getting it yourself) sucks!

  • Lily had a very mild cold in August (that she passed on to all of the rest of us and we were all sick as dogs from it), but that's it.  We also have pets and she was EBF, both of which probably helped.  Honestly, I actually think that being around a lot of people but being sanitary about it has helped, too.  We passed her around to friends and family like crazy in the beginning - she was held by 20 different people in one day at 3 weeks old.
