Weaning baby from Breastfeeding

My little one is almost 10 months and I am having the hardest time trying to wean her from breastfeeding.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  HELP!!!!

Re: Weaning baby from Breastfeeding

  • When I decided to wean DS (so I can TTC again) I discovered he wouldn't take a bottle AT ALL!! I let it go for a month and read for someone else to try and feed. While MIL was visiting I left to basement for an hr before feeding (so he couldn't smell or see me) And she was able to feed him with NO ISSUE WHATSOEVER! I was SHOCKED! So great...we planned a date night the next day and he took the bottle again (for 2 feedings)...YEAH!! The next day DH gave a bottle 1x a day for a week (I pumped) And then DS took a bottle from me. Once that was all good, I cut out 1 feeding a week (I used the stash I had of BM in freezer until I was down to a week of bags and then I mixed formula and BM and finally just formula) I kept the AM feeding and evening feeding for a little while and cut out evening feeding when my supply was the lowest...and DS decided he wanted the bottle rather then me :P That was that, Good luck

  • I also make sure I rock, snuggle, kiss, and cuddle after a bottle... still have that 1 on 1 time needed :)

  • Is it emotionally difficult or physically difficult?  If emotionally, begin doing something else special, just the two of you and make that routine.  If physically, I hear cabbage leaves and Benadryl work wonders.
