March 2013 Moms

I thought I was supposed to get boobs with this gig..

Feeling cheated and starting to wonder if I will have breast feeding problems. I have had really no change in boob size at all yet. Anyone else? I feel like Molly Ringwald in 16 Candles waiting for my boobs to arrive. ;)

  • Awww...don't worry! I'm sure size has nothing to do with breast feeding ability - you just wait til your milk comes in and you will have wished to stay just as you are now!!

  • Don't worry!  FTM but I've done some reading on breastfeeding and everything I have seen says that size of breasts have absolutely no correlation to your ability to feed your kiddo.  Besides, when your milk comes in, they'll probably get a bit bigger then.
  • I've been cheated too. Went up about half a cup size around 6 weeks and that was that. All my life I thought "when I have babies I'll finally have boobs" but am coming to terms with the fact that I may never have them at all. FX this changes after the birth.

Never fear. I think I may have gone from an almost A to an A when pg before. I only had big boobs when I was engorged and it hurt like crazy. I didn't even bother with nursing bras--just wore nursing tanks. Like pp said, size has nothing to do with function. I did have some issues, but I think it was more due to having two preemies as opposed to lack of size. :-) We still managed to bf some until 9 months.

This. I've always been an A and didn't increase at all with my first until my milk came in. I was worried the whole time, especially because I have PCOS, but no problems bfing at all. The girls seem to be running the same course this time around, too. Dang!

  • Thank you for the reassurance. I am an A cup, slightly bummed I'm not getting voluptuous but as long as it all works out in the end... That's what's important.

  • Would you ladies like some? I have plenty to go around. Not to get too personal, but I was a D when I got pregnant with my 1st, and a DD when it was all said and done. Then now I've went into a DDD, and now I'm in a G. Entirely TOO BIG.

Sometimes the boobs tend to grow after the pregnancy, not during! So don't be let down just yet! Lol.

You can have some of mine...I've already outgrown my pregnancy bras from last time.  My boobie bumps are going to be bigger than my belly bump.

This exactly, you can totally have some of mine. I am now a 34DD, and can't even find nursing bras that fit, so I really hope this trend doesn't continue. So far all of my weight gain seems to be in my bra, proving that you can definitely have too much of a good thing. The boob growth has been accompanied by extreme itchiness too, so hubby's excitement over the boob growth has been decreased dramatically by my constant reaching into my bra to scratch my boobs.....not cute.

I'm in this boat with you. After my miscarriage in march I decided to go get some sexy bras from Victoria secret to help me feel pretty again. I ended up leaving the store in tears because they just didn't make my size. I'm a DDD now and still getting bigger. If you don't mind me asking, where do you find bras that fit? I know they have to make this size somewhere! Big boobs suck! You can't fit in normal shirts or those cute sundresses, oh what I would do to get rid of these suckers! Op, my girls kept getting bigger as i was breasts feeding as well so don't lose hope, but I will share some of mine of you want.

  • I haven't had any change to mine either, I was a b-cup when I started and I feel like I'm just a slightly fuller b-cup. DH says they don't feel bigger either. FX that they will be fine for BF, bigger or not.

  • Same thing happened with my first and like others have said, it all changed when the milk came in. I remember walking out of the hospital with DS and my boobs being so big that they actually jiggled when I walked, mind you, that was a sensation I never had before being a long time member of the IBTC! ;
  • Last pg, mine only grew about half a cup size.  Seems about the same this time.  When my milk came in they were huge, but only really when engorged.  I actually did have a hard time breastfeeding.  I had a really hard time with my supply and actually went to the lactation consultant like 4 or 5 times to get help.  We tried absolutely everything, but ended up having to supplement with formula because DS wasn't gaining enough weight.  I've been told that a lot of times if a woman had difficulty her first time, the second time is much better, so I'm hoping for that.  I have no idea if the lack of growth had anything to do with it.  You still have time though, and maybe yours will have a growth spurt after baby is here!

  • I asked this question on the >35 board yesterday.  I started out big but have not gotten bigger since I got pregnant.  They have assured me that other people have had the same thing and they were able to breast feed.

  • If you have not had ANY change by the end of the third tri, I would schedule an appt with a certified lactation consultant. By no change I mean: no soreness, no areola changes- size and or color, no growth or heaviness whatsoever. I'm an A but i didnt even get to a B, I didn't experience the major boobs that some women do, e.g., B to DD. I was able to breast feed just fine with DS. It's not size that counts.

  • My first pregnancy I started out as a 34B and ended as a 36B, only due to my rib cage expanding.  Boobs did not grow at ALL.  Nor did they grow while I was BFing, and I nursed my daughter for 6 months with no issues.  So far this pregnancy they have not grown either, so I'm expecting history to repeat itself.  I was a little disappointed not getting bigger boobs, since I was looking forward to that perk (and yes, to us small chested girls, its a perk), but on the flip side, you dont have to deal with saggy deflated boobs when you are done BFing!  So it works out :)

  • i definitly think there is no correlation between breast growth and BF abilities.   I had a friend who went from a A to a B and is still breasfeeding her 5 month old. It really varies.  I was expecting a slightly similar change(she and I are similar build, and I'm leaner due to Crossfitting), and almost freaked out when the attendant informed me that I was now fitting into a 32D (I was an A cup my whole life...) and I would probabley grow more. Alot of it depends on rib cage too....I have a smaller rib cage, so my BBs are D's even though if my rib cage was a little wider I would fit into a 34C so...it really varies with everyone and there is no set mold for it.

  • LOL, I love the Molly Ringwald reference!  I just wrote this week about getting bigger boobs from pregnancy!!!  https://blogs.babycenter.com/mom_stories/1016201week-16-how-awesome-are-your-new-pregnancy-boobs/

There is still hope for yours to come in later! Fingers crossed! :)
