Does your LO wear shoes in the house?

My DD is obsessed with her shoes! She'll wear her sneakers then a few hours later want her sandals by the evening she's wearing her black dress shoes. And this is all her idea!!

Does anyone have their LOs wearing slippers?

Re: Does your LO wear shoes in the house?

  • DS just barely started wearing shoes last week for the first time. I only put them on him when we go out and I don't take them off when we got home immediately. I will take them off him when he goes down for a nap or he pulls at them.

I was actually wondering this the other day....SIL lives with us and as soon as she gets home she forces her kid to take his shoes off. I always thought it was weird. But I grew up in a house where my dad always required us to wear shoes or slippers. I think it was his way of keeping us from getting sick...cause we would have warm feet.

  • She doesn't have slippers, but she wears her shoes in the house sometimes.  DH always wants to take them off (of DD) as soon as we're inside, but I don't mind or even notice, usually.

  • Nope. But then again, she doesn't wear shoes out of the house either. I suppose as the weather gets colder that will have to change. I have slippers for her, but she never wears them. It is too bad because they are adorable :(
  • DD doesn't wear shoes  in the house. But I bought her some Robeez (because they're cute and were half price and I couldn't resist) and call them her slippers. She hasn't worn them at home yet, but she wore them at my aunt's house last week because it was cold there.

  • LO doesn't wear shoes in the house OR out of the house.  :-)

I take my shoes off when I go in the house.  Keeps the house cleaner, I think.  DH does not.  He says the dog will bring in more than he ever will, so he doesn't take his shoes off even when I remind him.  Arg.

  • Interesting! I wear slippers or socks around the house. DH wears socks neither one of us wears actual shoes though. H does it all! From barefoot to wearing three different pairs in one day!! :

  • None of us usually wear shoes in the house.  When DS is wearing a pair for the first time I do let him "practice" for a while inside before we leave the house as he is new to walking and some shoes take some getting used to for him.  DD and I wear socks in the house in the winter and I have a few pair of socks with really good grippers on the bottom for DS this winter.

  • LO is always barefoot in our house.

  • She just got a new pair of sparkly sneakers this week so she has enjoyed wearing them at all times. Generally she is bare foot or in socks indoors.

Recently she has been obsessed with dancing on the playroom's hardwood floors so Im thinking she would love a pair of tap shoes.

No slippers currently. She had a pair and outrgrew them, wasn't really into them.

  • Rarely in the house because he runs through the mud as soon as he is outside, and dress shoes aren't for play.  He does have a pair of Robees that he'll wear sometimes, but since no shoes is better while learning to walk it is the still the norm.

  • DS never wears shoes in the house but sometimes he'll come bring me his shoes or he'll put my shoes on top of my feet letting me know he wants to go out. I think he got that from the dog lol.

  • Nope, but none of us wear shoes in the house.  We keep them near the door, and he will play with them but he only wears them when we are going somewhere.
