Loss of appetite? Anyone else?

LO is almost 15 weeks old and lately seems to be eating less and have no appetite to eat. I'm also in the process of bottle training but even after not eating much from the bottle he doesn't cry and seems content drinking 12 oz. I noticed he went through this during week 8 but he was EBF so I'm not sure how much he ate but I knew he would only nurse for a few minutes and less often. Anyone else notice their LO's eating less or loss of appetite and doesn't seem hungry?

  • I've noticed this as well. My LO is very distracted during eating. However, as far as breastfeeding is concerned, I know they also become more efficient at eating so it takes less time.
    As for the bottle I have no idea because my darling little diva is still refusing, ugh!

  • I also notice that DD is super distracted while feeding.  She keeps breaking her latch to smile up at me or try to get an eyeful of TV (which is a no-no that I think the babysitter might be indulging her in).  Also, for the past two weeks she sometimes does not finish a 4 oz bottle (which she used to pound) that the babysitter gives her.  But, she seems super chunky and happy about it, so I am trying not to worry.  I am going to check in the doctor at our 4 month appointment in two weeks.

    Your siggy statement is exactly how I felt with the first image I had..I had to delete it because the scariest scene for me was when Carrie was covered in blood which is the most common image of the movie. :{

    LO went through that as well around 3 months and week old. He is 4 months old today. It lasted for about 2.5 weeks.. This is what they call the 4 month wakeful period when they notice and are more alert to there surroundings, therefore, making them easily distracted. My LO made up his feedings by feeding every hour on the hour at night...I was exhausted. It will pass...GL!

  • YES! He was 15 weeks yesterday and we're going through the same thing. He's crying while eating and just doesn't seem to eat very much. He seems to be more willing to eat from a bottle (my guess is because it's easier) but I don't want to have to pump to feed him every time he eats.

    I talked to a nurse at the ped's office today, and she said to just keep track of his eating, diapers, and mood if I'm worried about it, but as long as his wet diaper count remains good, then he's probably getting enough food.

    Couple this with crying and being up TONS at night, we are having a rough time over here! It's been like this for a week and a half, and has definitely gotten worse the last few nights.

    Hoping this doesn't last too much longer!

    I just don't know if he is eating less due to the bottle refusal. But even eating less, he's not crying out of hunger. He seems his usual happy content self. But yes, feedings these days have been a crying and screaming fest!

    Weird thing is that he sleeps well at night still. I thought he would try to make up his eating at night when we wakes out of hunger. But last night I actually woke him up at 4:30am to feed a bottle. I'm hoping this is just a phase where they don't eat that much. He seems happy overall.
  • LO seemed to be doing that, but now she is making up for it and nursing FOREVER - we're back to 1-2 hours of nursing. I guess it may be the 4 mo growth spurt. I feel like my supply increased the past few days.

    She seems to be doing better at night, but I won't take it for granted!
