We did it last time and I will do it again with this pregnancy. At first it weirded me out but then I looked at the benefits/facts and knowing that it could help so much! I decided to do it because really it couldn't hurt anything and it wasn't like I was going to keep my placenta anyways. They were little awesome energy pills for me and really helped me even out my mood. Worth it totally IMO.

I'm planning to look into it with hopes of doing it. I know there are people in my area who do the encapsulation, but I need to price it out. Assuming it's not out of reach financially (which I can't imagine it will be) I will probably do it. Last time I didn't produce milk (and yes, we tried everything short of prescription medication). We're hoping it was situational due to my labor/delivery experience so I'm doing everything I can this time to try to promote healthy lactation.
The idea... is kind of icky. However, it's a pill. I can pretend like it's anything in there! I've seen some woman talk about eating it and while I think that's awesome that they were able to do that I just don't think I could. Major kudos to them, but I'll take mine in capsule form TYVM
I did it. I decided on dehydrated versus steamed. I got my capsules at 5 days post-partum and it was just in time. The post-partum NB high had worn off any I was getting really moody. Once I started the caps I felt much better. Overall, I have been having an incredible post-partum time. It was $175 well spent, though I was bummed to only yield 90 caps. That was plenty for 6 a day for 2 weeks then 1 a day for a bit longer plus a small freezer stash for blue days, illness, and when PMS comes back but not enough that they'll last me to menopause (though I may have more babies before that anyway).
I did it myself this time (didn't do it at all last time). It was a bit of a project on Day 2 PP- I recommend enlisting the help of a friend/spouse if you decide to do it yourself (completely do-able, but time consuming). Anyway, I don't feel like I noticed a big difference between DD and DS, but that's just me. That said, I'd probably still do it again (with help)- I hate to be wasteful!

I will definitely do it! I've also been trained to do them and done a few myself for other women. It seems to really help not only with PPD, but also milk supply.

I am planning to encapsulate and have found a doula in my area that will handle the dehydrating, etc. She says I will have them within 2 days of my delivery date, which is pretty awesome and she is also making a lotion that I can use my on LO.
DH is surprisingly strong for it, so I guess I will have to get over the ick in my head. I found info on the benefits, also DH gave a pretty impressive argument based on our experiences after DS #1 was born. He even promised to take it with me if it would help me. (No worries, I would not waste it on him)
Re: Anyone considering placenta encapsulation?
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
All of this. It even helps milk supply.
By the way BreanneL I LOVE your sling fabric!
This! I did it and loved it!!
