Sanity Check

Ok so as you may know DH had two seizures and has been diagnosed with epilepsy.  On that day I did a HPT and it was negative, the next day af started.  I asked the RE if I could increase the clomid rx, because my progesterone level at 1 week past o was just high enough to show I did ovulate.

Anyway, my question is...am I crazy for wanting to continue through with this cycle after all that happened with DH?  I want to have all our trying behind us by the start of next year, and so that is one reason for why I am pushing on for this cycle.

Re: Sanity Check

  • Is he on medication to stop the seizures?  Are his doctors confident he'll be okay?  I wouldn't cancel if the two questoins are yes.

  • I agree with gault and also wonder if your DH feels ready to keep trying. If he says yes and there is no medical reason to keep you from it, then I wouldn't cancel the cycle.

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

I agree with this.  My cousin was diagnosed with epilepsy in high school and has managed it well with medications.  She even did it through two PG.  I think if your DH is comfortable then I would try this cycle.

  • Yes he is ok.  Yes he is on meds to control the epilepsy.  I know he feels the same as I do - that time is ticking on and we are getting to the end of ttc.  He asked me about it the other night and seemed like he was on board for trying this month.  His doctor made it sound like he may never have another seizure - they are going to use the occurrence or lack of his mini episodes (de ja vue) as a guide to whether the meds are working.

I think for both of us, we just need to get life back to normal as much as possible and keep moving forward.

And the crazy me that needs to plan the unplanable (yes I made that word up)...I checked an if I o at the same time as I did last month, it should be over the weekend.  This would be awesome, as I am pretty sure DH would have to miss an entire day of work otherwise (since he can't drive).

As long as your DH is ok, go for it : ).  I am sorry all of this is happening and you missed your conference.  Thinking of you.
