VBAC

C/S with Twins

I had a c/s with my twins due to baby A being Frank breech. This was 5 years ago now. We are in the early stages of pregnancy with 3 and are already thinking about whether we want to try for a VBAC. We know it is too early to know yet if it is an option but we want to get all our cards in order and get as much information as possible. I haven't been able to find much regarding VBACs AFTER twins only about VBACs with twins the second time around.

Has anyone here had a VBAC after a c/s with twins or higher order multiples? Or did you try for one and you were unable?

Thank you for your insights.

Re: C/S with Twins

  • No advice based on experience but I would think with a singleton pregnancy you would likely be fine to try a vbac.  Especially given the reason for your previous c-section.

Good luck and it's really never to early to start planning.  I asked my OB and midwife at my 5 week post partum check up with my first LO if there was any reason I couldn't try.  :)

  • I had a c-section with my twins b/c of their positions as well. At my annual appt. I told my ob that we are trying for #3 and asked what her approach would be regarding a c-section. She said that she'd have to check my records to confirm how I was cut (she was not my ob with the twins), but that depending on the cut and if I did not have complications last time that she'd like to try for a VBAC. She did point out that obviously this depended on how the pregnancy and labor went and that if the baby was ever in jeopardy she would have final say - which I agreed with her.  She was also honest that if I went into labor while she was off-duty it was likely that the other dr.'s would not want to proceed with a VBAC.

Anyways, no experience yet, but wanted to let you know that there are dr's out there willing to do it!

I had a c-section with my twins because B was not vertex (yeah, I had a wussy OB).  I'm now pg with #3 and planning to try for a VBAC...with another OB of course.  I would think we're great candidates!  I have a friend IRL who had c-section with her twins and a succesful VBAC with #3.  Good luck!
