Re: Fall / Winter wardrobe
Casual tops- She is still wearing her leftover summer tops, but I have bought/will buy about 10 total. She will probably need a few more after Christmas.
Dressy tops- Probably 5-8.
Dressy bottoms- I don't know if we will need any.
Jeans- Probably only 2 for the entire season (one for outside, one dressier pair)
Leggings- Probably 6 total for the season.
Shoes/Boots- She has one pair of outside tennis shoes, one pair of nicer tennis shoes, and I plan on buying one pair of boots and one pair of holiday shoes.
Coats/hoodies/sweaters- 1 winter coat, 1 or 2 lighter jackets, and 3-4 hoodies.
Dresses or skirts (if female of course)- 3-5. One for Halloween pics, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and one or two just for anytime.
I am a sahm, but I love to buy clothes for LO. However, because we are home all day, LO doesn't really need a lot of extra clothes. She wears a lot of jammies and play clothes, so I'm trying to do better about going overboard with her wardrobe! I'm sure this is a fairly conservative estimate, though.
Casual pants-She has maybe 3, but definitely need to buy her more to wear at home.
Casual tops- She has 3 long sleeve tops I just bought her and some long sleeve bodysuits. I will probably but her 4 more long sleeve shirts.
Dressy tops- She doesn't really have any dressy tops right now. I don't really feel like she needs too many. I may buy her 3 from now till Christmas.
Dressy bottoms- I don't really feel like she needs dressy bottoms, I don't even know what dressy bottoms would be. I may buy her 2 jean skirts to go with leggings.
Jeans- She has 2 new skinny jeans I bought her, I may buy her 2 more.
Leggings- She doesn't have any at the moment but I will definitely be buying her some.
Shoes/Boots- She has one pair of tennis shoes and these cute little Ugg look alike boots that I just bought her. We will probably buy her another pair of tennis shoes and a pair of snow boots.
Coats/hoodies/sweaters- She has this cute red coat I just bought her, a little cardigan/coat thing, she has 2 jackets, and 1 sweater. We'll probably buy her 1 more sweater, since she keeps the one she already has at daycare, and get her 2 hoodies and a snow jacket.
Dresses or skirts (if female of course)-She doesn't have any "fall" dresses or skirts. I want to buy her 2 jean skirts and 2 dresses, mostly for Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Also bought Lexi 4 new pajamas, getting ready for the cold
We have a very relaxed approach to Sam's wardrobe. Everything is built for speed, comfort and ability. I'm also a minimalist, and do not keep things that I do not use.
Casual pants- 10? She can wear a few of her pants from the spring. We recently bought a handful of pants, too.
Casual tops- 25 I know that sounds like a lot, but she got a bunch of handme downs from her cousin, her grandmas have picked her up some shirts and I bought a few at a consignment sale. I don't think we spent more than 10 dollars on all the shirts.
Dressy tops- 3
Dressy bottoms- Not really sure what this would be
Jeans- 1
Leggings- 5
Shoes/Boots- 1 pair of sneakers, probably 1 pair of dressier shoes. Maybe 1 pair of boots
Coats/hoodies/sweaters- 1 heavier coat, 7 hoodies (handme downs)
Dresses or skirts (if female of course)- Maybe 5 total?
I agree with PP. I definitely want LO to be comfortable 99.9% of the time. She wears cotton tops & bottoms and sneakers pretty much everyday.
Most of Vito's clothes are hand-me-downs from my sister's three boys. I try to narrow the clothes down to things I like/will use and donate the rest of what she gives me. Right now his drawer has roughly:
5 pairs of cotton or sweat pants for daycare
2 pairs of jeans
10-12 casual shirts long and short sleeve
2 pairs of dressier pants (khaki and black)
3 button down shirts (plaid and plain)
3 wintery sweaters
2 hoodies - just got those at Target
2 pairs of shoes - brown and black
Casual shirts 67
Dressy tops/bottoms none unless we need them
Jackets 2
Sweaters 2
Dresses/skirts none unless we need to. Pants are more functional right now
How do you all get by with less than 7 shirts or pants? LO goes to DC and her clothes go straight in the laundry when she gets home at night, so we need at least 7 of everything, plus they want backups to keep at school in case she gets something wet or dirty while she is there.
Plus I like variety... I would hate putting her in the same outfits every week. So LO has a ton of clothes. I shop consignment for them, so they don't cost much, and I can't remember the last time I bought myself anything... shopping for her is my guilty pleasure now!
I probably have 10 pairs of pants for her (including one pair of "dressy pants" -- black velvety pants), 15 casual tops, a few dressy tops, 5 sweaters, 3 dresses, 2 skirts, plus two holiday dresses. I have a snowsuit for her at home plus one for day care (again, they ask us to leave one there), and two pairs of shoes. Once it starts snowing, I will get her a pair of snow boots, but I am waiting to see what size she is then, because those are expensive!
I guarantee if I ever have a girl I will be the same way. I feel like with a boy the options are so limited I don't care putting him in the same things all the time. The unfortunate side effect of keeping limited clothing for him is that I have to keep up on the laundry.
Casual tops- At least 15 shirt sleeved and 15 long sleeved.
Dressy tops- 5-10
Dressy bottoms- umm none I don't think.
Jeans- 4 or 5 each of 12-18 and 18-24mo sizes
Leggings- 3
Shoes/Boots- 1 pair of boots, 1 pair of tennis shoes, and 4 mary Jane style shoes.
Coats/hoodies/sweaters- 2 sweaters, 2 heavy coats, 2 light jackets, 2 goodies. Most of these are hand me downs.
Dresses or skirts (if female of course)- 10-15 dresses 5 skirts
