For the name Prudence? I think the nickname Pru is cute. Let's add to that and if I had twin girls named Prudence and Portia, double side eye?

i just think of a prude and that's not a nice way for a girl to grow up...

I didn't even think of prude not that I would have a problem with a prude for a daughter haha
Portia is my grandma but we were going through baby books and Prudence caught my eye.

I think Prudence and Portia sound nice together but Portia does seem a lot more "current" than Prudence.

I think that Prudence is a very grown up name. Meaning, we can appreciate it as grown ups (I am 31 and I think the name is fine, a little stuffy, but a solid name) but I am 100% sure it is a name that I wouldnt' have wanted to have as a child.
Prudence is very formal. Pru is cute. Prude/Prudie (which I'm sure she'll be called - either because she is being teased or because it just comes out) is terrible for a kid.
I would pass. Portia is pretty and if I was a twin named Prudence with a sister named Portia I would be jealous of my sister.

I know an old lady name Prudence who goes by Pru. She's smoked her whole life and has a deep raspy voice. She was also my substitute tennis coach and hit me with a racket once....I say that to say maybe my view is influenced by her. I don't know any Portias but I don't like it at all.
