According to the email I got to update, we should double our protein these last few months of pregnancy since the little guy (or gal) is doubling in size left and right.
Any tips on how to do that?
I'm not a big meat eater, don't dig tofu, and I am nearly at my limit of peanut butter. What other things do you make for yourself? Also, what snacks? I find myself eating chips, Goldfish crackers, cranberries, carrots w/ humus, and yogurts. That's about it. I don't want to buy a ton of food since Mr. doesn't eat a ton of veggies and we're moving soon, so buying a shitton of food to prepare meals isn't a good idea.
Today is a "hungry day" and I find myself snacking a ton which probably isn't best.
TIA
Re: Protein Xpost from 2nd Tri
I eat alot of hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese. I snack on things like low fat mozzarella cheese sticks, almonds, lots of hummus, raw veggies and fruit.
Whenever I have my "hungry" days I find the more protein I eat the more satisfied I am.
Hmm, it's kinda hard without meat. Do you like cottage cheese? I don't love it, but I eat it as a snack since it has protein and helps keep me full a little longer. I would maybe try MorningStar veggie "sausage" patties for breakfast and make an egg mcmuffin out of them. I've been doing that for breakfast (but with real sausage) and it keeps me full for about 3 hours (which is a long time for me!). Here's the link for an easy way to make/freeze them: https://www.theyummylife.com/Egg_McMuffin
Other beans are a great source of protein. Black beans make an excellent dip (puree, add spices you like and a little yogurt to thin them out) for things like veggies and chips to dip in.
I tried the new fruit and protein drink from Silk buts its too weird for me. Comes out milky looking but is thin like juice and blows my mind too much to drink it. Lol

I drink only soy milk so I know I get some that way. I bought the Instant Breakfast pouches, but I hate that they don't mix in very well. They also mess with my tummy sometimes. They sure are easy though.
I'll have to go look in the deli and see if I can find some cheeses and stuff. I wish sometimes I could just take a pill with all the nutrition we need and then I could go on eating the things I like for fun
I've been unable to eat meat. My doctor has suggested nuts, eggs and beans.
Once I started looking I realized that many foods have protein in them. (e.g. frosted mini wheats) I'd suggest looking at all of the foods you normally eat
Quinoa is a great source of protein and there are a lot of places that make quinoa dishes. I have never tried to make it myself, but I get it for lunch whenever I can, there are several places that have the option near my office.
Otherwise, like others have said--nuts, egges, beans.

I know you said you're not a big meat-eater, but are you talking about meat as a meal or just all meat? I love to snack on beef jerky, so that's an obvious one for me. I also go with hard-boiled eggs for protein. If you are craving something sweet, you could always do a yogurt-based fruit smootie and add some protein powder. Yogurt + frozen berries + ice + protein powder in a blender is really tasty.
What about options like TVP? It cooks up easily into something like chili (with enough beans it makes a great source of protein) or sloppy joes.
