NBR-WWYD...long....

Okay so I am not sure if anyone remembers me posting a while back about having a # of UTIs, well I still have blood in my Urine so my family Dr sent me to see a urologist.  My appt was today and I still have blood in my urine, suprise, suprise.  He seems to think it is kidney stones (I have had these in the past)  but wants to do a CT scan to find out for sure and then wants to do a Cystoscopy (umm this does not sound fun AT ALL!)  Has anyone had this done before?  Anywho worse case (and VERY unlikey) it could be a tumor.  But something is wrong as he said blood in the urine is not normal.  Now...I have been reading a lot and Mirena has some killer side effects and now even has a class action suite agenst them.  I really think this is my problem.  It does not hurt like before with Kidney stones and I have no other issues (other than high BP another side effect from Mirena!)  I have a $5000 deductible with my insurance so pretty much anything I have done I am going to have to pay out of pocket for.  I have already called and have my appt to get my Mirena out but that is not till the 17.  The Urologist wants me to have the CT scan this Thurs and see him and have the other test done next Monday....he did say that sometimes IUDs can move and def do cause infections.  Okay now that I ranted...WWYD??  Get the test done?  Have the Mirena taken out and see what happens?  Run away and hide and cry?!? haha  HELP!

  • I would definitely keep your appointments. Even if it IS the Mirena, you still need the specialist to narrow that down. Please, please, please don't skip the appointments and tests. I don't think you have the Big "C" or anything and I can totally empathize with your insurance woes, but it is necessary.

  • I have desided to keep them...I will just be put on a payment plan and pay on the test but I would rather be safe than sorry for sure!

  • I agree - Keep the appointment. Whatever it is, you need to figure it out.

And just so you know, if it does turn out to be a tumor, don't panic. My friend is a nurse and we were just talking about bladder cancer this weekend (I know, we have some fun topics of discussion!) and she was telling me how it's probably the "best" cancer to have as it does not spread and is easily treatable.
